It’s Time to Debunk One of Donald Trump’s Favorite Fairy Tales
Donald Trump is one of Israel’s greatest friends in the White House. The Abraham Accords, moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights were historic.
But every time he repeats the claim that “WITHOUT ME, ISRAEL WOULDN’T EXIST TODAY,” he discredits his own achievements.
Really? Let’s appreciate the scale of that statement.
It is not merely false. It is an insult to Jewish history, an insult to Christianity, an insult to common sense, and an insult to every Israeli soldier who fought and died for this country long before
@realDonaldTrump entered politics.
The Jewish people did not survive because of Donald Trump.
Because DJT is essentially saying that a nation that existed thousands of years before the United States somehow depends on him for survival.
He is talking about a people who survived the Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, the Persian Empire, the Inquisition, the pogroms, Nazi Germany and countless attempts at extermination.
Every civilization that tried to erase the Jewish people disappeared.
The Jewish people did not.
And unless I missed something in the history books, Donald Trump was not around to save the Jews from Pharaoh, Titus, Torquemada or Hitler.
The Jewish people survived all of that WITHOUT HIM. ONLY WITH GOD!
Israel was built by pioneers, soldiers, survivors and dreamers who rebuilt a nation from ashes. Israel fought for independence in 1948, defended itself in 1967 and survived in 1973 and 2023 because Israelis were willing to fight, sacrifice and die for their country.
Israel didn’t just survive hostile armies; in some wars, it survived and won DESPITE intense American pressure and arms embargoes.
Let’s also remember that Israel has often had to stand alone. The U.S.-Israel alliance is strong and important, but Israel’s existence has never depended on any American president, and never will.
This relationship is not charity. It is a partnership.
WITHOUT ISRAEL, the Middle East would be dominated by Islamist forces openly hostile to America and by rival powers such as Russia seeking to expand their influence, which is precisely why Israel has spent decades protecting many of America’s strategic interests as well.
And YES, Israel receives American aid to buy American weapons, but Americans often forget they have benefited enormously from Israeli intelligence, military innovation and technological breakthroughs. They also forget that this aid helps ensure Israel keeps buying American weapons instead of building its own. The United States understood this perfectly when Israel began developing the Lavi fighter jet. Washington rushed to kill the program because it knew that if Israel succeeded, Americans might never sell another fighter jet again.
What makes Trump’s claim even worse is that it is not only an insult to Jewish history; it is arguably an insult to many of his own evangelical supporters.
Millions of evangelicals believe Israel is part of a divine plan greater than any politician. Whether one agrees with that belief or not, the idea that DJT personally stands between Israel and extinction places him in a role that neither history nor faith assigns to him.
Israel existed before Donald Trump. It will exist after Donald Trump.
Because generations of Israelis have proven they will defend and, if necessary, die for their country regardless of who occupies the White House.
@POTUS deserves credit for his achievements. But no credit for the existence of Israel itself.
So perhaps, instead of repeating the fantasy that Israel owes him its existence, Donald Trump should show more humility and respect for a nation whose history began long before him and will continue long after his political career ends.
