Just an FYI (and I will write about this soon):
There is another parallel between Sergei Fedorov's divorce from the Wings in 2003 and Dylan Larkin's impending exit from Detroit in 2026:
Pat Brisson. He was Fedorov's agent. He is Larkin's agent.
Take that for what you will.

Sergei Fedorov said “leaving Detroit was a huge mistake” during his jersey retirement speech a few months ago.
He left in 2003 to go to Anaheim.
Dylan Larkin was sitting on the bench along with the rest of the team watching the ceremony live.
Fast forward to today and the rumors that Anaheim was added to his list of teams.
Really incredible stuff
LeBrun reports that Yzerman has gone back to Larkin's camp to ask for more teams beyond MIN/VGK/FLA, which he senses Larkin/Brisson were receptive to.
Also, other teams reaching out (like DAL) have given Larkin more to consider. Teams may also be exploring a 3-way deal. #LGRW

With essentially a one-year McDavid window, the Oilers hiring a guy who hasn't coached an NHL game in 7 years and got fired from his last job before even stepping behind the bench would legitimately be one of the most insane management decisions of all time
