Mental health can affect any one of us and asking for help is often the hardest part. No one should have to wait for support when they need it most. This is why I’m working with @telegraph to improve access to counselling. Article 👇#NoTimeToWait telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/02…

Fascinating thread one 1) how mainstream media orgs end up picking up fake news pumped out on social media 2) highlighting the need for same orgs to fact check social media stories prior to publication 👇
This is an entirely untrue news story. A wild claim made by a fake ‘journalist’ on social media, and several prominent journalists have fallen for it, including at @thetimes This is very niche but I will explain…

You can vote and decide the government but you can’t decide when to look at an app on your phone, what a time to be alive.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer will introduce nightly social media curfews for 16 and 17-year-olds as part of the Government's social media ban [@thetimes]

The problem with attracting people to stand as MPs who have principles and integrity is that they become MPs with principles and integrity.

The World Cup starts tonight! ⚽️ But by the end of the first match, we’ll be one man down. Someone dies by suicide in our country every 90 minutes. Three-quarters of these are men. I spoke with Luke the co-founder of @andysmanclubuk about male suicide, mental health and the help that is out there. 👇 Andy's Man Club is an incredible organisation that helps men across Britain open up, talk about what is going on in their lives, and help one another. I have been to sessions in my constituency and was overwhelmed by the support they can offer men dealing with all sorts of problems in their lives - small or large. In each session, a football is passed around the group to share thoughts, challenges, and successes. Simple, but effective and liberating! As a government, we take mental heath - and men's mental health - seriously. We published England’s first Men's Health Strategy last year, which committed further funding for suicide prevention programmes, recognising that suicide is one of the biggest killer of men under 50. We are investing £3.6 million in community based suicide prevention projects - and supporting the @premierleague Together Against Suicide initiative with @samaritans. And this is a challenge for all of us, not just government. As a society we can do more to encourage men to open up, get the weight off their shoulders. That is a key part of our Men and Boys work led by @DavidLammy - amplifying the issues, assuring folk there is help out there. Enjoy the football, look out for one another, and know there is support out there!

I’m not sure why this is framed as anti Jewish when it would surely impact those of the Muslim faith too
EXCL: The Green party is considering a new policy to ban circumcision, The Spectator can reveal. The party’s Health Policy Working Group (HPWG) has launched a consultation seeking views on whether parents should only be allowed to consent ‘to an irreversible surgical procedure on a child if that procedure is medically necessary’. Circumcision is an integral part of Judaism, with Jewish boys traditionally undergoing a ‘brit milah’ on the eighth day after birth. Interestingly, the consultation on outlawing the practice was publicised specifically in a ‘Greens for Palestine’ WhatsApp group.

Seems more likely he was arguing for cuts in net zero… Or is HMT saying that’s untouchable but schools / hospitals were on the table?
TREASURY source hits back to say Chancellor "will always do what is right and needed to keep this country safe... Let's be clear on what John is asking for: cuts to schools and hospitals."

After a lot of favourable media briefings the Home Secretary appears almost entirely absent from recent events. Hard to see how this continue given the level of dissident and debate around policing.

Well, Ed Miliband trusted you. And Keir Starmer trusted you. And how'd that work out for them...

We’re in a world where the Leader of the Labour Party is openly briefing against the Labour by-election candidate, and Labour mayor of Great Manchester.
🚨 BREAKING: No 10 hits back at Andy Burnham saying he would stand to replace Keir Starmer "The country expects us to focus on governing and to deliver change for hardworking people, not get distracted by Westminster debates... the PM will not walk away from his mandate"

Labour Growth Group had some truly excellent people who were ready, early on, to be quite radical. In the early days of LFG, they were the first political group to come on side and endorse the LFG Bill. Chris Curtis and Mark McVitie in particular stuck their necks out for what they believed in. They took a chance on LFG - a new group starting from nowhere, when the easier path would be to do nothing. That takes guts and I hope they have big plans for the future - because very clearly, there is a lot to do.

This is very dishonest, I’m surprised at Reform. This isn’t doing politics differently, it’s what I’d expect from the Labour Party.
Kemi Badenoch, just like Starmer, doesn’t care. Only Reform UK will openly say that white lives matter too.
Community note
Badenoch stated she rejects both the "Black Lives Matter" and "White Lives Matter" slogans because "everyone matters." x.com/KemiBadenoch/s…

Kemi is right to call for a less divisive tone of language around this case. There are also serious questions to answer - and it’s the case that if we’re to maintain policing by consent those questions must be seen to be answered.
Questions that deserve answers around the case of Henry Nowak - but that won't be answered by IOPC 👇 1⃣ Did Hampshire Police conduct any sort of review or debrief of the police response in the immediate aftermath of Henry's murder - and, if so, have any learnings from it been delivered to officers and staff? 2⃣ Did Henry's killer have any prior contact with police in Hampshire (or elsewhere) and if so, what was the nature of any such contact and decision-making around any of those encounters? 3⃣ How much first aid training is undertaken and how often? Is it fit for purpose and have other training needs have been put ahead of ensuring effective first aid and other core training? 4⃣ Why did senior officers prioritise ideologically-loaded training over getting the foundations for their relatively inexperienced workforce right? 5⃣ Why are police officers being urged to treat people differently based on their skin colour? The IOPC investigation can't or won't touch any of this - and the force won't answer without a public inquiry.

Burnham is now in the Theresa May trap. If Burnham becomes PM he either blows on and ends Rishi style with a monumental defeat, spending his time as PM managing unmanageable backbenchers. OR u turns like May did and the electorate then see you as a greedy opportunist.
Exclusive: Andy Burnham will not call an early election if he becomes PM His spokesperson says he is ruling out a snap election It means he’d likely govern to 2029 if he successfully challenges Starmer this summer The move by his campaign to end speculation about an early vote comes after reports in recent days that he’s been considering it Harriet Harman and others in Labour have talked up the possibility It will come as a relief to Labour MPs worried about losing their seats bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

This is appalling. Imagine being treated this way after being stabbed and informing the police of that as they arrest you, drag you and handcuff you. Shocking.
