New Year’s Eve often comes with fireworks. In much of Milton, those loud, overhead fireworks remain prohibited.
A state law now allows cities to limit fireworks to protect horses. Milton has adopted an ordinance that bans fireworks within 200 yards of any property with equines, including horses, donkeys, ponies, and mules. Because of the number of horse farms here, large areas of the city are off-limits year-round.
Where allowed, fireworks may only be used on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and on New Year’s Day from 10 a.m. to midnight, and only if the location is more than 200 yards from an equine property.
