Student teachers shouldn’t have to go broke to get into a profession that’s already underpaid. That, too, is an equity issue.

We've always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, play, & classes like Music, Art, Physical Education.But they have been taken away or reduced to spend more time on testing, & then we wonder why students lack social/ emotional skills & misbehavior that come with lack of it.

If indoctrination looks like modeling kindness and acceptance, reading books with diverse characters like the students in my classroom, encouraging them to embrace each others cultures and backgrounds and teaching them to take care of one another then yes, I do. @EducationMN
