Splink is a great tool for any poor folks suffering with the job of linking people across big administrative datasets (is this Mary Jones in the NHS the same Mary Jones as this Pension record?) Splink, a Python library for probabilistic record linkage and deduplication
I'm presenting at 16:00 on Splink at R Govys if anyone's interested meetup.com/rgovys/ Will do a sneak peak at upcoming Splink 4 features

Stats is broken. Causal inference is broken. Together they are less broken. I will teach a 3h online course in September, aimed at ppl who have tried to understand connections btw causal inference & statistical inference but were discouraged by notation & puffery. @StatHorizons

Excited to announce that the AI Snake Oil book is now available to preorder in many different formats. Thank you to everyone who has already preordered! Ebook: press.princeton.edu/books/eb… amazon.com/Snake-Oil-Artific… Audiobook (with a bonus track featuring commentary by @sayashk and me): press.princeton.edu/books/au… amazon.com/Snake-Oil-Artific… Reduced price Indian edition: amazon.in/Snake-Oil-Artifici… And of course the hardcover print book: press.princeton.edu/books/ha… amazon.com/Snake-Oil-Artific… bookshop.org/p/books/ai-snak… This is the first time we’ve written a mass-market book. We learned that preordering a book, as opposed to ordering after release, can make a big difference to its success. Preorder sales are used by retailers to decide which books to stock and promote after release. They help books get recognized on best-seller lists. They allow our publishers to anticipate how many copies need to be printed and how the book should be distributed. They are also used by online booksellers to make algorithmic recommendations. In short, preordering early is the best way to support our work. 🙏

Help! I'm looking for a vaguely remembered quote. The editor-in-chief of one of the big medical journal stating very frankly that most research is bad. Ring any bells?
