DOGE is a trojan horse to gut labor, consumer, and environmental protections.
If DOGE actually wanted to cut waste, it would address the massive tax loopholes, government contracts, and subsidies that benefit the wealthy and large corporations.

Musk is firing people who operate the Veterans Crisis Line. One of the most substantial and successful tools to fight veteran suicide today. They literally did a 2014 documentary about it that won an Oscar. Can someone point me to the outrage from the MAGA “we love the troops” crowd?

All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes checked off.

Firing federal workers won't get Social Security checks out any faster. It won't help veterans or seniors get the care they need.
It just makes things harder.
Federal workers are crucial members of our communities. They get our Social Security checks out, take care of our veterans, and keep us safe when disasters hit. They deserve better.
