After the reports of Chinese made solar cell inverters shutting down, this story doesn’t surprise me. China controls the sun now. Or at least, that seems to be their goal.

And a shout out to @JonPelson who helped me understand the security argument is a plausible one. If Trump were actually DOING that, it would at least have some chance at success.

Great piece on the problem with Trump’s approach to tariffs.
If @realDonaldTrump is playing 3D chess, he is losing on every "D." Even if you steel-man the arguments, you have to PICK one strategy and then pursue it. From @aier.... thedailyeconomy.org/article/…

Right back at you, @mungowitz . In an economic context, the damage from tariffs is clear. But when you’re dealing with others who aren’t trying to maximize economic outcomes, or you have higher priorities…Trump may be doing some of the right things, for all the wrong reasons.

If you’re going to key cars because the founder of the company was a Nazi, shouldn’t you start with Fords?

My oped in today’s @WSJ speculates on the possible strategy behind Trump’s tariff war.
Trump’s rapid and seemingly indiscriminate imposition of tariffs against America’s biggest trading partners seems a policy drawn from the founder of modern Singapore, writes @JonPelson on.wsj.com/4hL3nGp

My new oped in the @WSJ appears in the print edition tomorrow. Yes, tariffs are bad economics. But sometimes they’re effective statecraft.

I was pleased to see that the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force included my book — Wireless Wars — in his list of five that airmen should read. #USAF

Glad to see @SenMarcoRubio citing a recent piece I wrote with @KeithJKrach on the real role of Huawei in advancing the geopolitical goals of China’s CCP.
Thank you to @SenMarcoRubio for citing @JonPelson and my article about Huawei in his new op-ed. Sen. Rubio rightly observes that Huawei is not just another telco. It’s a tool of the Chinese Communist Party’s global surveillance state. During the Trump Administration, we rallied 60 countries, 200 telcos, and many industry leading firms to exclude high-risk, untrusted 5G suppliers, like Huawei, because they represented a serious national security risk. As a result, the company lost about $30B. That’s why Beijing is spending tens of billions to prop it up. As Sen. Rubio points out, it’s “not a reflection of Huawei’s ingenuity,” but rather its importance to the CCP’s strategy for global dominance. miamiherald.com/opinion/arti…

In “Wireless Wars,” @JonPelson outlines the only way the USA can compete with China in critical 5G technology: chaotic “permissionless innovation” that changes the game. @elonmusk is trying to do precisely that with Starlink. The regulatory agencies are clearly opposed to him. Whose side are they on? a.co/d/5kqXhNP

The Clean Network initiative cost Huawei $30 billion/year. Now, the company would have you believe it’s rebounded. In our article in @thehill, @JonPelson and I point out that dubious math from an outfit at the heart of the CCP’s global surveillance state with a long track record of IP theft can’t be trusted. thehill.com/opinion/technolo…

What's the right way to think about 5G? Is it voluntary exchange, or international conflict by nonconventional means? (The 2 are not mutually exclusive, but the second is worrisome!) My conversation with @JonPelson, author of WIRELESS WARS.... buzzsprout.com/2186249/episo…
