A brilliant essay exploring the already legendary Kensuke Sonomura’s experimental action choreography. Really helps in understanding his unorthodox methods and visceral aesthetics

Most importantly, go watch THE FURIOUS. Some of the choreography ranks among the best I’ve ever seen.

Hello, Distributors! Please release Yugo Sakamoto's work outside of Japan! I enjoy watching his films. I'm sure I'd enjoy them even more with professional subtitles. Thank you.
Every time Yugo Sakamoto gets reduced to "the guy who did Baby Assassins", I just want to yell at people. It's so depressing. People are like "He's one of the best young directors in the world" (which I totally agree with), but you guys have barely scratched the surface.

"From Die Bad, which “set the standard for Korean ‘B-movies,’” to his collaborations with Jung Doo-hung, to Humint’s steely refinement of mainstream action aesthetics, Ryoo [Seung-wan] has always been at the leading edge of Korean action cinema, reflecting its tendencies while pushing it forward. All eyes should be on where he goes next." @JonahJeng writes on the adrenaline-fueled cinema of Ryoo Seung-wan, an essential filmmaker affectionately known as “The Action Kid” in South Korea: mubi.com/notebook/posts/prim…

this is one of the most formally audacious movies of its kind that i've ever seen. portions that gesture at the avant-garde; fleischer was an absolute genius.
