"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it [.]" - Genesis 1:27-28

This week at the SBC, Ozark Mayor and long-time Registration Secretary Don Currence encouraged Southern Baptists to consider serving in public office “I never in my life thought I would be doing public service, but God opened the door. I realize now we need Christians to be serving in public service… "It's not easy, but the thing is, we need Christians to take the lead in our government, in our city, and be involved.”

Very happy this was approved! But concerning that 25% in attendance were opposed to ratifying what is basic scriptural truth. We have much work to do in the SBC.

It was the right thing to do to recognize Charlie. I applaud.@WilliamWolfe for having the courage to lead the charge to even try.
Messenger @WilliamWolfe brings a motion to honor Charlie Kirk. I hope it passes. Charlie’s evangelism deserves our recognition.

Stronghold. With @EphraimMattos
I was listening to .@jockowillink's podcast, I had three things that stood out to me: 1. Some Baptist Pride: While Jocko is interviewing former Navy SEAL .@EphraimMattos about his organization .@strongholdresc and its work in Burma, he mentions the deep Baptistic roots and loyalty many of the Burmese people have because of Adoniram Judson. Judson is one of my Baptist missionary heroes who is pictured in my study and brought the Gospel to Burma in 1813. When I was going to college in Chicago, our church shared the building with a Baptist Burmese congregation of the Chin tribe. What a small world to see the providence of God at work! 2. Toward the end of the episode Ephraim delves a little into veteran suicide. He notes what I have been advocating for with the little influence I have: That veteran suicide is not primarily tied to combat exposure but has more to do with loss of identity and community disconnect (to put it in my own words; go and listen for yourself). I’m so grateful the conversation around veteran suicide is beginning to shift. If we have the wrong cause in mind, we will have the wrong solution. 3. The work Stronghold is doing is fascinating. I had never heard of their work until this episode, and it certainly deserves more exposure. Go and listen! shorturl.at/4fwEj

I want to thank so many of you who have reached out personally to congratulate us and assure us of your prayers. We are humbled and accept this opportunity for service knowing it is a stewardship for which we will give account. I want to congratulate my brother, Josh Powell, and his wonderful family for his exemplary conduct and efforts during this season. My esteem for him has only grown and I know he will be a voice in Southern Baptist life for years to come. We need 1000 pastors like him. I want to assure all Southern Baptists, those who voted for me and those who didn’t, that our desire is to serve our Lord and you and my prayer is indeed that God will bring us into a season of reconciliation and renewal. It is my hope to listen and to serve and I ask for your prayers, your patience, and your continued cooperation as we continue in the good work God has given us to do.

Proud to have my voice included behind .@WillyRice here. Congratulations, brother. "The SBC is headed in the wrong direction and needs to change its present course. I believe Pastor Willy Rice is the man to help get that job done."
We are officially endorsing @WillyRice for SBC President. Willy Rice’s love for the Lord and the local church, for Baptists as a Baptist people, and his courage, conservatism, conviction, and humility have been on clear display over many years in SBC life. He has earned our support and our vote, and we encourage all Baptists gathered in Orlando to offer the same. centerforbaptistleadership.o…

. @jasonkeithallen waxed eloquent about how messengers are owners/overseers of @MBTS But when asked if he’d be willing to ask trustees to give those owners 990-level disclosure, he obfuscated. He answered about filing with IRS instead, which was irrelevant to my question.
In a push for greater financial transparency, pastor @rhett_burns asks MBTS president Jason Allen if he'd be willing to "request of your trustees to make 990-level disclosures to the convention." Despite 990-level transparency ≠ filing a 990, Allen says he would not disclose salaries, suggesting it would lead to negative consequences. He likens it to college football, where allowing this level of transparency would lead to wage inflation and bidding wars for professors and other personnel.
