These words are very precious to me. Gregory of Nyssa recorded Macrina's prayer around the time he participated in the council of Constantinople, where the creed we still confess was approved. This is the hope of Nicene faith in action, amidst light and darkness, life and death.
Replying to @Passages_Pod
Particularly in Macrina’s death-bed prayer, some of the most beautiful words in Christian history, we witness God’s grace made perfect in weakness, and the hope of resurrection in our frail and mortal bodies and an enactment of 2 Corinthians 4:5–18. mereorthodoxy.com/passages/s…

I offer a series of close readings, first of Psalm 132 itself, then considered within the collection of the Psalms of ascents, then the shape and shaping of the Psalter, then within the canon, & finally — via our union with Christ — as Christ's own song that becomes ours in him.

The first draft of this article was written in 2015; thanks be to God it has seen the light of day. During the peer-review process there were quite interesting questions & objections raised which prompted the excursus on Protestant Mariology & TIS that will likely be of interest.
