Random thought for the day: every time you see f.lux turn your screen to nighttime colors, dawn is breaking on the other side of the earth.

Once a year, for a rare moment at 7:15 AM EDT on July 8th, 99% of the world's population will be in the Sun. About 6.4 billion people in the daytime, while more than 1.2 billion people experience twilight. How cool is that! Source: earthsky.org

If you (or a small person who lives with you) wakes up too early after the time change, try to go for a walk before sunset every day this week.🚶‍♂️🌄 Some people get this backwards, but when the clocks move to an earlier time, we wake up *later* in our circadian day.

Here's a temporary workaround for the new MiniLED Macbook Pros - hope this is fixed in macOS soon. forum.justgetflux.com/topic/…

About the new M1 Pro/Max MBPs with f.lux: they seem to be swizzling RGB to GBR (making screens turn cyan), and we aren't sure why yet. Hopefully will be fixed soon.

Monterey 12.0 seems OK. Please avoid updating to 12.0.1 if possible.

My lab (at MassGeneralBrigham in Boston) is hiring a postdoc in computational genetics for projects working on circadian rhythms x psychiatric disorders x light sensitivity. DM me if interested! #UKBiobank #BlackInSTEM #BlackInGenetics #NativeInSTEM #LatinxInSTEM #AsianInSTEM

YouTubers take note: If you get an offer like this, please be aware it is a fake/scam. This is happening to many software companies this week. Our domain is justgetflux.com, so anything else is not from us.

Another day, another #YouTube #sponsorship #scam. Again, with a mismatched domain. The real domain is @JustGetFlux.com. Plus the email headers indicate it was sent from wp.pl. The perp pretends to advertise f.lux, but in fact will send you a trojan if you agree.

Some notes: The first thing to show is any difference between using a phone and not using one - this study doesn't show any difference, with P>0.5. So that's the headline really. (1/n)

To sum up: If you can't even show you have a problem, you cannot fix it, and making a very minor change probably won't fix it anyway. (4/n)

Experiments like these need to characterize the light levels and the timing. This includes phone type, luminance levels, day of week, use of phone in the middle of the night, typical viewing distance, etc. (5/n)
