Advancing women-led financial inclusion in Kenema 🇸🇱
@UNDPSierraLeone DRR @KevinPetrini joined the UNCT, Gov't partners, and the @IrlEmbFreetown to visit the first-ever Kenema Women’s Cooperative Union, supported by UNDP, @SendSierraleone and funded by @Irish_Aid.
Since launching in Nov 2025, the initiative has reached 1,100 members, expanding access to affordable finance and empowering women and youth across the South-Eastern Region. 🤝

Turning waste into opportunity ♻️🌱
During a UNCT field mission to Kenema, @UNDPSierraLeone DRR @KevinPetrini visited Green Compost in Agriculture for Development (GCAD), supported through UNDP’s Growth Accelerator Programme.
The initiative now produces 50 tons of compost weekly, creating green jobs, supporting farmers, and advancing the circular economy.

During a UNCT field mission led by UN Resident Coordinator Seraphine Wakana @swakana99, UNDP DRR @KevinPetrini visited Sierra Tropical Limited to engage youth trained through a UNDP-private sector partnership. 106 youth gained market-ready skills, with 15 now employed as machine operators.

With support from @UNDP and the @GlobalFund , in partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone, solar energy is powering 24/7 care. In areas where rural electricity is just 4.9%, this means safer births and stronger health services.
