Shri K. K. Son, AS & MD, National Jal Jeevan Mission (NJJM), Government of India, visited the residence of Mrs. Dule Kartam, a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, to assess the functionality of the household tap water connection. During the visit, he personally examined the drinking water being supplied through the tap and found it to be clean, safe, and of good quality. The interaction provided an opportunity to understand the direct impact of the Har Ghar Jal initiative on rural households and to verify the quality and reliability of water services at the beneficiary level. Such field-based assessments play a vital role in ensuring that rural families not only receive tap water connections but also have access to a regular supply of safe drinking water. The visit highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring, water quality assurance, and community participation in sustaining rural water supply systems. Every functional household tap connection is a step towards improved health, dignity, and quality of life for rural communities. #HarGharJal #JalJeevanMission #JJM #SafeDrinkingWater #TapWaterForAll #WaterQuality #RuralDevelopment #PMAY #PradhanMantriAwasYojana #WaterSecurity #CleanWater #DrinkingWater #CommunityParticipation #RuralIndia #SustainableDevelopment #QualityOfLife #PublicHealth #WaterForLife #SDG6 #LeaveNoOneBehind #UNICEF #UNICEFIndia #ForEveryChild #WaterSanitationHygiene #WASH #EveryChildCounts #ClimateResilientCommunities #GoodGovernance #TransformingRuralIndia #ViksitBharat

ON —————————————- #InternationalAlbinismAwarenessDay, let us celebrate the dignity, strength, and uniqueness of every person with albinism. Humanity shines brightest when we replace stigma with understanding, discrimination with inclusion, and silence with respect. Pʀᴏᴜᴅʟʏ ɪɴ Mʏ Sᴋɪɴ: Cᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ Aʟʟ Sᴋɪɴ Tᴏɴᴇs Iɴᴛᴇʀɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ Aʟʙɪɴɪsᴍ Aᴡᴀʀᴇɴᴇss Dᴀʏ – 13 Jᴜɴᴇ 2026 ————————————————- Every year on 13 June, world observes #InternationalAlbinismAwarenessDay (#IAAD2026) a #UnitedNations-recognized observance dedicated to promoting the rights, dignity, inclusion, and well-being of persons with albinism. The day was proclaimed by the #UN General Assembly in 2014 to address the discrimination, stigma, violence, and misconceptions faced by people living with this genetic condition worldwide. The 2026 theme, “#ProudlyinMySkin#CelebratingAllSkinTones,” highlights the need to combat colour-based discrimination and celebrate human diversity. The theme emphasizes that every individual, regardless of skin tone or appearance, deserves respect, equal opportunities, safety, and recognition. It also draws attention to the psychological and social impact of prejudice on people with albinism. #Albinism is a rare, non-contagious, genetically inherited condition characterized by reduced or absent production of melanin, the pigment responsible for the colour of the skin, hair, and eyes. As a result, people with albinism often have visual impairments and are highly vulnerable to sun damage and skin cancer. The condition occurs in all ethnic groups and in every region of the world. Despite growing awareness, many individuals with albinism continue to face discrimination, bullying, social exclusion, and, in some regions, even violence due to harmful myths and superstitions. International Albinism Awareness Day serves as a reminder that diversity is a strength and that societies must work towards inclusion, education, healthcare access, and equal human rights for all. On this day, let us celebrate the achievements of persons with albinism and reaffirm our commitment to a world where every individual can live with dignity, acceptance, and pride—truly ‘Proudly in their skin.” @UN @WHO #AlbinismAwareness #HumanRights #InclusionMatters #EndDiscrimination #DiversityAndInclusion #MedTwitter #UNObservance #MedEd #MedX @ajaykraina @IhabFathiSulima @SukhSandhu @AnujaJaiswalTOI

Now, it seems that almost nothing in our lives moves without AI. On 12 June 2018, long before the world became so obsessed with artificial intelligence, I had the opportunity to participate in an Inclusive AI Conference at the UN Headquarters in New York. The United Nations had already foreseen both the immense potential and the serious risks associated with AI. The objective was clear: to chart a roadmap for Inclusive AI so that marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved communities would not be pushed further to the margins by this transformative technology. Eight years later, I find myself reflecting on how far we have come—and how far we still have to go. Despite remarkable technological advancements, the world appears increasingly unequal, discriminatory, abusive, and undemocratic for many sections of society. The UN and countless organizations deserve credit for their efforts to address these challenges, but the broader trajectory remains worrying. Systemic discrimination, skewed income distribution, ecological degradation, and escalating climate impacts continue to deepen existing inequalities. The rich are getting richer, often at the expense of both the poor and the planet. Not surprisingly, they also dominate access to and control over emerging technologies, including AI. The contradictions are striking. AI-powered drones can help irrigate crop fields and improve agricultural productivity. The same technology can also be deployed to bomb innocent children in conflict zones. Yet the small and marginal farmers who feed much of the world often cannot afford these innovations, nor are they positioned to benefit from them. This is why we need to fundamentally rethink how technology is developed, governed, and adopted. Technological progress, by itself, cannot be the measure of human progress. No matter how sophisticated our tools become, the rights of poor, Indigenous, and marginalized communities to land, water, forests, livelihoods, and dignity must remain non-negotiable. Democracies, too, need to be reconnected to principles of inclusion, justice, and accountability. If AI is to serve humanity, it must be guided not merely by innovation and profit, but by equity, rights, and ecological responsibility. The future should not belong only to those who own technology. It must also belong to those whose lives are most affected by it. ~ Ranjan Panda 13th June, 2026 #InclusiveAI #EthicalAI #AIandSociety #ClimateJustice #HumanRights #SocialJustice #IndigenousRights #SmallFarmers #FoodSecurity #Democracy #JustTransition #LeaveNoOneBehind #CombatClimateChangeIndia #WaterInitiatives #Youth4WaterIndia #MahanadiRiverWaterkeeper @WaterInitiativ1 @MahanadiRiver @Waterkeeper @Youth4WaterIn @WFP @FoodSystems @IFAD @theGCF @theGEF @Welthungerhilfe @WHH_India @BoellStiftung @boell_India @FESinAsia
