This is a severely underestimated fulcrum point in American history. During the nineties there was a great societal upheaval over mass migration. California voters, in the face of an onslaught of media demonization, acted to save their state by passing Prop 187 to end all public benefits for illegals. Time changes are dumb. Let's fix them. Did you know our current timezones were drawn by the railroads 140 years ago? Let's modernize them with what I'm calling the "Sunrise Rule"... using actual solar data. Use 5 timezones and target the latest sunrise of the year at around 8:20 AM, and we get this map. It ain't perfect, but it works. Currently the US swings between UTC-4 and UTC-8 throughout the year, that's 5 zones we rotate through, crammed into 4 at any given moment. Why not just use all 5 and leave it be? Every time Congress tries to fix DST, they keep the same 4 zones and it fails because northern cities end up with 9 AM sunrises. No dark mornings AND more evening light. Daylight Savings crowd wins. Standard time crowd wins. No more clock changes. Everybody wins.

Something like 70 to 75 percent of Americans are never arrested in their lives. Another 20 to 25 percent are arrested once, usually for something minor. Almost all of the arrests, especially for violent crimes, are coming from about 5 percent of the population. If all of these people were just thrown in a cage forever and forgotten about, the rest of us could live in peace. That's a fact. You could essentially solve the crime problem, almost completely, by arresting the tiny minority of the population that commits basically all of it. Instead we let them roam the streets, continually release them back into the public, and watch helplessly as they kill, rape, and destroy, even though nobody on Earth can explain why this system makes sense, or is fair, or moral, or just.
