Disrupting bacterial communication signals to treat diseases is not always beneficial. This is what a new study led by @KimInGeneva (#UNIGE} and @HarisAntypas (@NTUsg) shows. ow.ly/KHFU50Yk5iz

I’m excited to share that this study I am first author from the lab of @KimInGeneva (three continents effort!) is out! E. faecalis-derived lactic acid suppresses macrophage activation, enabling persistent and polymicrobial wound infections.

Getting the spiderwebs out to excitedly share our new work @KimInGeneva lab. We studied how Enterococci use lactic acid to suppress the inflammatory response and promote virulence. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… It is now under review, stay tuned for a revised version when published.=)

Calling all Enterococcal researchers & enthusiasts! 🦠We've really appreciated the Enterococcal tools available @Biocyc, especially with upgraded curation, so I'm happy to spread the good word to those who are still out there.
Check out the recent @BioCyc release, which also includes newly curated Tier 2 databases for Enterococcus faecalis V583 and OG1RF. A big shoutout to @KimInGeneva and @josealemos for their guidance in navigating enterococcal research!

Our previously preprinted work on E. faecalis HtrA is now out @PLOSGenetics. A project close to my ❀️, started in πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ by Adeline Yong and finished inπŸ‡¨πŸ‡ by @CristinaColome8 and supported by an international cast! journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…
The latest preprint from the lab is up. Here we asked how the cell responds when pilus biogenesis goes off the rails in E. faecalis. 😱 Come for the chaperone/protease action, stay for the WEIRD morphologies & two component system induction. πŸ‘‡
