What does a #Trump victory day about America? Frightening. Like @Nigel_Farage becoming PM here. Really need to rebuild close ties again with Europe. @stephenkeeler #EU @13sarahmurphy @_JD_Black #racism @euromove @zarahsultana @jeremycorbyn

Fyfe Robertson heads to Barnsley to explore the traditional game 'Nipsy' before it disappears altogether. Known locally as 'Piggy' or 'Peggy', this lively game sees players strike a wooden piece into the air and hit it again mid-flight, with locals measuring the distance.

The late, great Jimmy Reid. This is what socialism sounds like Keir Starmer. @YourWullie @socialistsunday @MyArrse @zarahsultana @jeremycorbyn Magnificent. Such conviction and passion. @UKLabour @ilo @RedPixie61 @iww

The Warnock Report and 1981 Act thought radical but created a bidding system for resources that still exists. Better to consider all children as special rather than label negatively. @Deakin_DI @accessandincuk @TommyShakes @johnpringdns @Danwhite1972 theguardian.com/education/20…

A Brexit supporting and now French resident and for years indulged by the BBC every Sunday to rant right wing politics, what twaddle he writes. Reminiscent of his Sunday Times days. @NewSocialistNS @socialistsunday @BladeoftheS @RedPixie61 @Bertrom

Do children still play conkers? Suspect not. We used to try all sorts of ways to create a winner such as baking the horse chestnut. Anyone see it still played? @desdelboy @stephenkeeler @IanBeesleyphoto @intltimes @britcultarchive @NoContextBrits

After the Winter fuel allowance debacle, surely Labour won't now target low income disabled people? @Danwhite1972 @Deakin_DI @johnpringdns @DisRightsUK @accessandincuk @TommyShakes @MarcDavenant For goodness sake Labour, stop emulating the Tories. theguardian.com/society/2024…

Well done @PrivateEyeNews for the glowing tribute to the wonderful Ed McLachlan, richly deserved. We'll miss his dark, surreal humour. One of the best. @Cartoonmuseumuk @PunchBooks @GrizeldaG @MattCartoonist @ArfurSmith @britcultarchive

Very sad news that the great Ed McLachlan has died. A brilliant, inspirational cartoonist who never failed to make you laugh. And very kind to up and coming artists. I absolutely loved his work! This was his own favourite cartoon, from @PrivateEyeNews

If the exhibition pops up in your area, well worth visiting. Powerful portrayal of the desperation of homelessness and the paucity of support services outside the voluntary sector. @Shelter @TBigissue

Sitting watching the cricket, just occurred to me, don't get paper bags anymore. Used to have them for butter/sweets/loose biscuits/bacon/cheese/bread/fruit and so on. That completes my profound thought for the day. @ArfurSmith @desdelboy @GrimArtGroup @YourWullie @Bertrom

It has become a huge issue. The ridiculous overseas family visa restriction a factor and certainly needs to end.

Michael @MichaelRosenYes absolutely right, library closures an 'act of cruelty'. What a sad indictment of Britain that the vitality of literature and ideas so undervalued. @LibraryJournal @IMcMillan @RSLiterature @13sarahmurphy @childrensociety @stephenkeeler
