We used to have officers come in to do a “community helper” presentation for Grade 1 social studies. That was quite lovely... but honestly, at this point I would rather trade in any resource officer for the 3 full time Educational Assistants their salary would cover.

Every tenant every student in Ontario should have access to air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter
Ive just left an elementary school with stifling hallways. Thankfully the gym had AC but we know thats not even the case in all schools.

When summer hits, tenants start baking in hot apartments.
The relentless humidity and heat are miserable for everyone, and dangerous for some, especially seniors and people with health issues.
After sitting on their hands for three raging hot summers, the Conservatives have finally changed Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act to give tenants the right to install and use a window or portable air conditioner.
If the landlord pays for electricity, they may be able to increase the rent to recover the actual or reasonably estimated cost of running the air conditioner.
What the government didn't approve, however, was making cooling a vital service and setting a maximum temperature for all rental homes. That's what we're going to fight for.
This is about safety and quality of life.

Tensions ran high & frustrations were palpable at a TDSB parent budget meeting Tuesday night, where parents pressed for answers on hundreds of staff cuts and program reductions planned for this fall.
But the Ford government-appointed TDSB Supervisor didn’t answer questions during the meeting & declined an interview with me afterward. Watch:

Ford's latest attack on democratic transparency:
When people have disputes they go to tribunals for hearings—the Condo Authority, the Land Appeal Tribunal, the Landlord Tenant Board, etc.
The appointed adjudicators need to be fair and non-partisan, but Ford is appointing Conservative donors for these jobs.
Now he will not allow opposition MPPs to question his appointees in committee.

If I’m understanding this properly the $750 for #OntEd elementary teachers is…a bit of a scam.
$450 is funding from the government. $300 is being taken directly from school budgets.
Per teacher.
And the vendor is TBD.

Happening now outside TDSB headquarters: parents speak out against expected cuts to staff, programs & services next year.
“Ford has money for a private jet, a luxury spa, a highway mega project & pay raises for himself and his fellow MPPs. It’s time for this government to choose public education over friends.”
The board has justified the cuts, explaining 5,000 fewer students are expected to enrol next year.
