Sick and injured patients in the hospitals are also starving. chuffed.org/project/136892-m…. After being hit by shrapnel, or undergoing surgery, or suffering from illnesses, these cases have no nutritional support and no strength for their bodies to heal. As they are fighting hard to survive, their bodies are fending off hunger and trying to recover. Even those who care for patients, the dedicated nurses and doctors, who show up for work every day to see and deal with the unimaginable, to continue to try to save lives, are fainting from their hunger pains. The Sameer Project recently visited the Surgical Department of Al Shifa Hospital where we distributed 100 bulgur meals to the entire ward, as well as the nurses in the department. Each meal cost 25 shekels and weighed 500 grams. The head of the nursing department gave us special permission to access these patients and staff to assist. The initiative cost a total of approximately $825 after 10% transfer commission. We try to provide for those in the most dire need, and unfortunately if you are in the surgical department of Al Shifa, this is the case. Donate to the Medical Campaign to help support patients and the heroic medical staffs that need help. Everyone I meet in the street swears they haven’t eaten in three days. They are starving—weak, weary, and forgotten. By Allah, we are witnessing a slow death—and silence is no longer an option.

Second, the Bill sets the stage for massive privatized, for-profit concentration camps. It will quadruple the capacity of ICE to detain people--giving it capacity to detain, in for-profit arrangements where corporations make money per person/day, at least 100,000 more people.

new vid with @MorePerfectUS
NEW: 17,000 AT&T workers across the South have launched a huge strike. They’re fuming that wire techs are paid & treated worse than other employees. A top exec recently called them “second-class.” Now workers are striking to demand a raise and an end to the two-tiered contract.

Shot another piece for @MorePerfectUS this time about Delta baggage workers trying to start a new union!
Delta is a disaster. Consumers are stranded, flights are in disarray, and Pete Buttigieg has opened an investigation into the airline. Passengers aren’t the only ones struggling. Workers are too. Delta baggage handlers are trying to unionize America’s largest non-union airline.

A new ACPC investigation reveals that the Atlanta Police Foundation pushed a surveillance program that would turn Atlanta into an “open air prison for everyone on electronic monitoring”. Their original plan was to test the program on a cohort of people that was 93% Black.
In 2023, the Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) quietly advanced a plan to test an invasive individual electronic surveillance program and secure a $1 million city contract for Talitrix, an APF donor company. atlpresscollective.com/2024/…
