Thank you so much: working with such inspirational teachers makes my day so enjoyable and worthwhile @RuthMiskinEdu - The children you work with are so lucky: I feel privileged to work with you. #closingthegap #talkthroughstories #everyonedeservesastory #ifwedontwhowill
What a brilliant day this has been! Nick has shared so many practical ideas and engaging activities to develop talk in the classroom using high quality picture books in a fun and exciting way. We have all hung on every word!

An unexpected highlight of my work trip to London was meeting @jeremycorbyn, who was editing his book with his son in the hotel restaurant. Took the time to say hello and wish me well. A man who resparked my interest in politics 👍🏼

Using arms as the ‘feint’, something you don’t see too often now. Very effective and Gazza did it perfectly 👏
It’s 33 years since Paul Gascoigne did this at Maine Road. Lots to see here: - City in away kit (broadcaster request) - Gazza’s feints as he waltzes through the defence - A generational talent at the peak of his powers Unbelievable ability.

3. Positive reaction to mistakes. With football and anything in life, mistakes happen. All the time. It's the reaction that matters. This was drilled into us by my coach. Bad reactions only compound the error. Clear your mind and focus on the next action.

COACHES: It’s not always what you say that determines your culture but rather what you are willing to accept. What you reinforce, permit, reward, or allow determines your team's culture.

If you’re a parent/carer of a young child don’t send them to private coaches to do loads of Cruyff turns and ladder hopping! Especially if the coach spends more time filming for Instagram! Instead let them play other sports, with other kids - they’ll benefit more!

Coaches want to win. But mostly they want to be appreciated for their efforts, time, their investment in helping others improve. Wins can be statistical but the real winning is in boosting confidence, self-esteem, self belief in players. Winning isn’t always the post game result

Talk to yourself… …more so than listen to yourself… Talking to yourself isn’t the first sign of madness, it’s the first indication of self-control. It’s a move towards self-regulation. It’s a reach for self-management…

Anyone leading on CPD, here’s a new quote for your slide deck. “People believe practice makes perfect but it doesn't. If you're making a tremendous amount of mistakes, all you're doing is deeply ingraining the same mistakes. It's feedback that makes perfect.” - Jillian Michaels
