Remembering Dr Ahmad Al Maqdameh, a dearly loved plastic surgeon. who worked at Al-Shifa hospital, on the first anniversary of his execution. Doctor Ahmad's body was found alongside his mother's, Dr Yusra, in the grounds of Al Shifa hospital, with their hands bound. We must see justice for these crimes against humanity. There will be much talk of the single-sex exceptions in the Equality Act over the next few days. These are the exceptions that allow service providers to offer services that are only open to one sex or the other (found at Schedule 3 Part 7 of the Act). (1/7)

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.
“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” - President Alan Garber hrvd.me/GarberRespond347t

IMO there is no #consent to the use of deficient materials and we were not informed that the plastic would begin to degrade after 60 days @bbchealth @wesstreeting 💔 for tens of thousands injured and to this day many have not received the care or respect they deserve
Injustice ⚖️ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8rd… A material commonly used in #vaginalmesh #implants starts to degrade within 60 days of being implanted in the pelvis, according to a new study. Research by the University of Sheffield found traces of #polypropylene, a type of #thermoplastic, in the tissue surrounding implant sites. Sheila MacNeil, emeritus professor of biomaterials and tissue engineering, said the findings meant it was "crucial" that "new and better" materials were found. IMO there is no #consent to the use of deficient materials and we were not informed that the plastic would begin to degrade after 60 days @bbchealth @wesstreeting

Lesbians assemble! Without men with certificates! The Supreme Court has interpreted "sex" in the Equality Act to mean "biological sex" and not "certificated sex". We are SO proud we were able to intervene in this important case along with @ScotLesbians and @AllianceLGB

Cuts & privatisation WILL NOT make the NHS more efficient, but far less. Cutting up to 150K staff will have significant and far reaching implications upon remaining staff & the quality of patient care. This is a complete false economy & a huge mistake. theguardian.com/society/2025…

Press Statement – For Women Scotland Today, the Supreme Court has confirmed what women across the country already knew. Sex matters. This is a landmark victory, not just for For Women Scotland, but for every woman who has been told to sit down, shut up, and make way. The Court has recognised that women's rights must be based on biological sex, not on self-declared identity. This ruling restores legal clarity and reaffirms the purpose of the protections written into the Equality Act. This win protects all women, including trans-identifying females, by ensuring maternity rights, women-only spaces, and female-focused services are grounded in reality. It puts a clear boundary around what it means to be female in law and pushes back against a men’s rights movement that has tried to colonise womanhood. We thank the brave women who fought this case and the thousands who stood behind them. This is your victory. But the fight isn’t over. We will keep pushing until sex-based rights are not only protected—but respected. #WomenWontWheesht

⚠️ Women’s bodies are being turned into battlegrounds in #Sudan. Today, as we mark two years since this devastating war began, their voices are loud and clear. They are demanding justice and that the world does not forget Sudan—or its women and girls. #KeepEyesOnSudan

We are hugely grateful to @ForWomenScot for bringing this case. At great personal cost, they have provided women in the UK with essential clarity about the way equality law works. Their bravery cannot be overstated. It’s been a long road and we have been proud to intervene on their side in the Supreme Court along with the lesbian intervenors. Photo credit: @Anna_Moffat

We are delighted that @ForWomenScot has been successful in its appeal to the Supreme Court, and that the position of the Scottish Government has been rejected. The court has given the right answer: the protected characteristic of sex – male and female – refers to reality, not paperwork.
