Libertarian candidates have the opportunity to impact the Senate's Republican supermajority next term, running candidaes in TWO of the three toss-up districts. @ElectBradHessel in SD-18 and Gavin Bell in SD-11. SD-18 is particularly interesting in that the incumbent Democrat recently resigned, throwing the race into a three person free for all. I wrote this article after discovering that a friend of mine had been arrested for a cannabis charge. As soon as I found out I referred her to a lawyer I know. Over the next week I spent a lot of time on the phone talking with people including the District Attorney and Assistant District attorney in charge of the case. Yesterday the case was dismissed. The Draconian laws that led to the arrest are still on the books. The fight doesn't end until those laws change.
