The term "haemophilia holocaust" is an international medical scandal in the 1970s and 1980s where thousands of people with haemophilia contracted HIV, Hepatitis C, and other diseases from contaminated blood clotting products. It is considered one of the largest medical disasters in history, involving the mass infection and death of patients who were supposed to be treated with life-saving therapies.

What I’m hearing is it’s now time to pull everyone in and concentrate on getting victims the compensation they deserve and have waited years for. We are getting government IOU’s and living infected need to paid in full so that they can get on with what little time they have left. Some will not see full compensation because of their age and current illnesses. This is morally wrong. The amount of claims that have been processed is shocking low this year. We know you are engaging with the community please listen to this ask and put everything into processing claims. @IBCA_CEO_UK @IanByrneMP @AndyBurnhamGM @LabLab15460 @Gooders2023 @steveb297 @GraymF1 @CampaignTB @Factor8Campaign @addresstheharm

But @Keir_Starmer you are happy to let @NickTorfaen push push ahead with the nominal compensation package for using haemophiliac children for research. There is no redress for the government official that gave the go ahead to use this vulnerable cohort as lab rats. You should be all over this given your record on human rights. It is abhorrent that you think this is acceptable. @IBCA_CEO_UK @katehaemophili1 @ConanMci @LabLab15460 @GraymF1 @Gooders2023 @steveb297 @DuryTerren13578 @KieranMullanUK @Jeremy_Hunt @HumanRightsAPPG @Haemosexual

@NickTorfaen in your own words this is the most heinous part of the scandal. But was it a scandal ? Or was it a vile abuse of human rights ? Using a vulnerable cohort of children as research is unthinkable. There is no getting away from this! We need to to know who in government agreed to this abuse and why. Was it done in the hope that by killing a large proportion of haemophiliacs you would save the government purse? Would you accept the governments response if it was your child?? @MumsnetTowers @IBCA_CEO_UK @IBCA_UK @DHSCgovuk @Keir_Starmer Would you do approach this differently @AndyBurnhamGM @KemiBadenoch @Nigel_Farage We cannot let this abuse of human rights be swept under the carpet again @QcMansfield @addresstheharm where is the press on this scandal within a scandal @maitlis @TheNewsAgents @NickFerrariLBC are you too scared to cover this! @Gooders2023 @GraymF1 @DuryTerren13578 @LabLab15460 @IanByrneMP @KieranMullanUK @steveb297 @seancavens @Haemosexual @katehaemophili1 @ConanMci
The evidence is there yet it’s being brushed aside to hide the truth that someone at the top of government allowed this to happen. @NickTorfaen @Keir_Starmer would you allow you’re children to be used for research?? This is a fundamental breach of human rights. We cannot let this go with proper redress @QcMansfield @AndyBurnhamGM @IanByrneMP @IBCA_CEO_UK @KieranMullanUK @CampaignTB @Haemosexual @GlennWilko58 @katehaemophili1 @Labrat1963 @Gooders2023 @steveb297 @GraymF1 @Factor8Campaign

@NickTorfaen on a recent meeting with Gov advisors hosted by Ellie Nicholson. It was mentioned by Nathan Collins that Gov solicitors had been in meetings with core participant solicitors re unethical research. He stated that our solicitors had said that the figures put forward by government were in line, if not more than if a claimant was to bring a private case for unethical research. He would not give names of solicitors but stated we could have access to detailed minutes of these meetings. Can you ensure these are made available to campaigners asap. @QcMansfield @IBCA_CEO_UK @HumanRightsCtte @CampaignTB @katehaemophili1 @ConanMci @addresstheharm @Gooders2023 @seancavens @milnerslaw @GraymF1 @steveb297 @Haemosexual @treloars @AndyBurnhamGM @IanByrneMP

Unethical research? Or a failed attempt at Eugenics? HCV was hidden from us Haemophiliacs in our treatment for 20 years until HIV couldn't be hidden. What was the agenda with HCV?
Findings on Unethical Research: Thomas-Symonds highlighted that victims were treated as "objects" of research and were misled, calling the scandal a "shameful mark on the British state". He further described the cover-up as "more subtle, more pervasive and more chilling" than an "orchestrated conspiracy to mislead”. Very strong words from @NickTorfaen. Sadly very little action to ensure this does not happen again. Allowing children to be used for research should NEVER have been agreed to. We need to know who at the top said ok to this @QcMansfield @AndyBurnhamGM @IanByrneMP @katehaemophili1 @ConanMci @IBCA_CEO_UK it is not acceptable. @KemiBadenoch @Nigel_Farage would you approach this atrocity differently? @MumsnetTowers as parents are you happy to allow this bill to pass? There is no deterrent to stop big pharma from doing this again to your children! @TheNewsAgents @NickFerrariLBC this horrific part of the scandal needs to be exposed. @Gooders2023 @GraymF1 @steveb297 @Haemosexual @CampaignTB @Factor8Campaign @DuryTerren13578 @Labrat1963 @seancavens

This afternoon I will be representing the bleeding disorders community at the Public Accounts Committee giving evidence about the compensation scheme. The unethical testing on people with bleeding disorders is one the most horrific aspects of the contaminated blood scandal

@NickTorfaen @cabinetofficeuk @DHSCgovuk The words of Professor Arthur Bloom #Haemophilia Physician 1970’s 1980’s “A study in human beings was important, and the best subjects for this were "previously untreated patients" - known as "pups" 40 Years before Josef Mengele “The angel of death” Mengele acted within the norms of German science under the Nazi regime. His crimes represent the extreme danger posed by science when it is conducted in the service of an ideology that denies the rights, dignity, and humanity of certain groups of people. UK 🇬🇧 #Haemophiliacs we’re unethically researched without knowledge All in the name of science & for vast profits for the Pharmaceutical Companies #InfectedBlood #Haemophilia #HIV #HEPC

Research on children is never acceptable! We need to know who allowed this state abuse to happen and why there is no criminal proceedings. @AndyBurnhamGM stated that “corporate manslaughter charges should be considered”. Sir Brian said “this was not an accident”. @NickTorfaen you have let this community down. A community that put their trust and faith into you doing the right thing. @IBCA_CEO_UK @HumanRightsCtte @QcMansfield @IanByrneMP @GraymF1 @GlennWilko58 @Gooders2023 @Labrat1963 @Keir_Starmer @addresstheharm @Haemosexual
Who made the decision to allow haemophiliac children to be used for research? Was it Thatcher? Was is eugenics to save the NHS money? These are answers we still do not know. But what we do know is a vulnerable group of children were used for research purposes. A decision was made to move from chimpanzees to haemophiliacs. This is a fundamental breach of human rights and no one is talking about it. @QcMansfield @AndyBurnhamGM @IanByrneMP You stated @NickTorfaen that it was the worse part of the infected blood scandal. Yet you are trying to sweep it under the rug again. @IBCA_CEO_UK @IBCA_UK @Keir_Starmer @KieranMullanUK @HumanRightsCtte @TheNewsAgents @Labrat1963 @Gooders2023 @steveb297 @GlennWilko58 @GraymF1 @addresstheharm @DuryTerren13578 @HaemoSocUK_PI @ConanMci @katehaemophili1 This will happen again if we do not address this @MumsnetTowers

You forced me to look up unethical research compensation. I'll just say Tuskegee Study. Very similar. I was sent home with Hepatitis to see how I could spread it. If you take their compensation in 1975 and compare, the equivalent today would be over £400,000. #notrecognised

It's highly concerning that the test and learn approach is going at a snails pace. It's also highly concerning that there is no way on earth that you won't go beyond the backstop that @NickTorfaen has set. People are still dying. #contaminatedblood

I first wrote to the @metpoliceuk in 2010 as #TaintedBlood Secretary, regarding the unethical research and other crimes committed on haemophiliacs They refused, lied and now continue the cover up. We know we are still “cheaper than Chimpanzees” denied justice for those harmed 💔
