Just rotating off study section myself, and I personally don’t see any difference - factor 1 is just the “old” Significance and Innovation and 2 is just Approach with any added weaknesses from environment and investigator.
Replying to @c_constan
The two factors are clearer and understandable. As a result, scores are much more consistent now, than in the past. It is a rare occurrence to see spread of preliminary overall scores of 3 points or more between three reviewers (eg 2, 2, and 5). (6/10)

The primary change is that you can no longer speak to the expertise and former publications of the investigator and collaborators as a strength, and can only speak to weaknesses of the investigator and team. Which is a bit depressing even if necessary for unbiased review.

I’m excited to share new work out of the lab at @NYULangone led by @kenjifujihara! We took a first principles approach to evaluating #ferroptosis induction for cancer therapy via targeting the SLC7A11-glutathione-GPX4 axis. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Men lose nearly a year of life to a molecule that's supposed to boost their brains. Tyrosine, a dopamine precursor taken by millions as a cognitive supplement. @uk_biobank Mendelian randomization (MR), n=272,475: it causally shortens male lifespan by 0.91 years (p=0.01) No significant effect in women. Men naturally carry higher circulating tyrosine than women. The authors suggest this single amino acid difference may partly explain the male-female lifespan gap. Nuance: MR captures lifelong endogenous exposure, not supplement effects. But the finding held across multiple MR methods and every sensitivity test. If you're supplementing tyrosine daily, this paper deserves your attention.
