Also! It is OKAY to be mediocre at something! It's okay to not constantly try to strive for perfection. You don't have to master every hobby you're interested in. It's okay to be satisfied with your skill level.
Excellence =/= perfection. Excellence exists at every skill level.
With all this talk about how to write better, remember, being good at a thing isn't a requirement. Even if your writing did objectively suck, I'm proud of you and I'm kissing you on the forehead. Have fun first. You can get better later if you want.

I love hearing about parts of my fics people liked, and even more about small details people noticed! Yes, I write for myself. But I *post* my writing for other people. And it's so encouraging to hear from people who take the time to read.
i dont think ppl realize how much comments genuinely carry fics/writers. posting smth after pouring weeks of work into it is such a vulnerable feeling. you hit post & just like... wait
