While nine years have passed, the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire continues to cast a deep shadow. It has been a long ordeal for survivors & family who await the next steps. We remember those who died & our thoughts are with their relatives.#Grenfell

The Met Police deal with Apple is another step in fighting the phone theft plaguing the West End, but more action is needed to build on this. As part of our #SafeStreets campaign we're ramping up anti-ASB operations led by Caroline Sargent, our new cabinet member for enforcement
šŸ“µ Phone theft has fallen by 50% in the West End through relentless, targeted policing. Now we’ve joined forces with @Apple to disrupt global criminal networks, protect phone users and make stolen phones unusable. šŸ“° Read More ā¬‡ļø news.met.police.uk/news/met-…

A strong week for enforcement in Westminster as we confiscated £5,000 worth of goods including fake Beatles signs, vapes & designer labels while Cllr Caroline Sargent joined @CityWestminster officers & @metpoliceuk to pull unsafe/ rip-off pedicabs off the road #Safestreets

Our trading standards teams ensure shoppers get what they pay for & are protected from retail rip-offs. Our councillor for enforcement, Caroline Sargent, went to our depot to see the results of just one raid last month - with brand names like Chanel and Louis Vuitton pirated

Carelessly discarded dockless bikes drive residents & businesses crazy. As well as enforcing against offenders, we've just struck a deal with Lime to share data on where the bikes are - all part of our effort to keep the City cycling and pavements clear. westminster.gov.uk/news/lime…

This is the haul of suspected fake items from just one shop in the West End - with Chanel and Louis Vuitton among the labels being pirated. @CityWestminster trading standards officers have taken more than £330,000 worth of counterfeit items off the streets in the last year.

A pledge on design from the Oxford Street Development Corporation chief, but - if pedestrianisation goes ahead - there are significant details missing. What about step free access & bus routes? Where's the bold vision? All feels a bit like a Temu plan. architectsjournal.co.uk/news…

Tube strikes often bring a surge in dumped dockless bikes across Westminster. These bikes were blocking a taxi rank & obstructing the pavement yesterday. Our City Inspectors issued fines & ordered operators to remove them. We're keeping pavements accessible & safe for all.

While we keep our options open on Oxford Street, if pedestrianisation is going ahead we want to make it the best possible for residents, visitors & businesses. The experienced @CityWestminster team is ready to work constructively with @SadiqKhan 2/2

I'm aware of reports of the stabbing of a young man in Pimlico. We are awaiting further details and will work with the Metropolitan police and offer community help where we can. Thoughts with the victim.

True it's an eyesore, but not true @CityWestminster hasn't taken action. Problem is our powers are limited as this is private land. We have tracked down the managing agent but they have yet to act - be assured we will keep pushing this. Unsightly and unfair on local residents.
There's even a fly-tip in central London.😭 This is Rutland Gate, next to Hyde Park. Despite pleas from residents @CityWestminster has done nothing about this for 2 years. An incredibly wealthy council refusing to clear this up. Why? Does the local MP care? @josephpowell @BBCLondonNews

It's critical that Westminster's streets aren't clogged with dockless bikes. Following feedback from residents & businesses we've removed the virtual dockless bike bay on Agar Street which had become a focus for antisocial behaviour & rough sleeper litter. More action to follow!

The abuse of short term flats rentals is out of control in the West End. I've called on the major operators to take action to control the market & ensure council flats aren't let out. Pleased to say @Airbnb_uk have been in touch & keen to work with us. standard.co.uk/news/politics…

Disturbing report in @London_Centric that @limebike quietly gave food delivery riders permission to ride at full speed through London parks. Am seeing @limebike executives later so will raise this. No problems with food delivery but pedestrian safety must come first.

Illegal use of short term lets in the West End is now running out of control with @CityWestminster investigating more than 2,500 properties. It's time the big rental companies like @Airbnb_uk got a grip - me in today's @thetimes thetimes.com/article/ea8ecda…

Across @CityWestminster we are rightly proud of our outstanding schools. My brilliant colleague @HRGalley has been to @QueensParkPS to see how a great school can become a hub for the whole community. Watch her video for a tour of the school!
