Horrified by last night's massive 🇷🇺 assault on🇺🇦: fires set to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a despicable "double-tap" strike in Kharkiv that killed 4 rescuers as they fought to save lives. Attacks on civilians, heritage & first responders must end.

Ray’s Rock - Omaha Beach On the morning of June 6, 1944, 23 year old Staff Sergeant Arnold “Ray” Lambert came ashore with the first wave of the 1st Infantry Division on the eastern side of Omaha Beach. At this small patch of concrete he saved nearly 20 lives: The division came under intense fire from several German bunkers surrounding the entrance to the Colville Draw (one of two exits off Omaha Beach). Ray, a medic, immediately went to work. He was shot in the arm. Moments later he was hit by shrapnel in the leg, but Ray kept pulling men to safety. He pulled nearly 20 wounded soldiers to cover behind this 8ft wide obstacle, treating each soldier before going out in search of others. After several hours under fire, while pulling a wounded soldier from the ocean, he was struck by a landing craft. It dropped its ramp on top of him, breaking his back. He fell face down in the water, drowning. The craft backed up and nearby soldiers pulled an unconscious Ray to safety, eventually evacuating him off the beach. Remarkably, Ray had already earned two Silver Stars and three Purple Hearts in Sicily and North Africa, prior to landing in France. But here in Normandy his war would end. He awoke in a hospital back in England a day later. In the next bed over was his brother, who had also been wounded at Omaha. When asked about his work on D-Day, Ray simply said, “I did what I was called to do.” Ray Lambert passed in 2021 at 100 years old. He exemplified the best of American grit and why remembering this day is so important.

Well there you have it. The CPS have made their decision. There’s no point being annoyed or aghast, it won’t change anything. But this statement will make up minds that were on the fence. More Police Officers will leave. I’ve already spoken to 5 this week. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

Imagine watching this and being unable to decide if these vile, out of control thugs assaulted a police officer... It doesn't make any sense. Our two-tier justice system is utterly broken.

Russia is "relentlessly targeting" critical infrastructure and democracy in the UK and across Europe, the head of the intelligence agency @GCHQ will warn. Anne Keast-Butler will also use the first of what is set to be an annual threat assessment to reveal that her officers are helping to counter "reckless sabotage and assassination attempts" by the Kremlin. She will warn that the risk of miscalculation, which could trigger wider conflict, "is as high as I have ever seen it". At the same time, Ms Keast-Butler will say in a lecture on Wednesday that Vladimir Putin is "going backwards on the battlefield" in Ukraine. You can read more here⬇️ news.sky.com/story/russia-re…

The government has yet to issue public guidance on how to ready the whole of society for potential war, despite warning almost a year ago of the need to "actively prepare". Discussions on homeland defence and wider national resilience and readiness are understood to be taking place behind closed doors. But a network of local authorities and voluntary organisations that would play a key role in every part of the country should the UK ever come under armed attack appears to be largely in the dark about what they should be doing to better prepare. Sky News has spoken to a number of experts who say that local resilience forums - the regional bodies that are responsible for supporting communities in any kind of emergency, from floods to conflict - need to become a lot more familiar with wartime planning. Such a move though would require direction and coordination from the Cabinet Office and additional money from the Treasury. Local government budgets are already stretched and - depending upon the level of government ambition - rebuilding the country's civil preparedness for potential conflict would require a whole new area of expertise, training and responsibility. This is not an alien concept, however ⬇️ news.sky.com/story/governmen…

🚨 OFFICIAL UAE DOCUMENT: IRAN-LINKED TERROR CELL EXPOSED The UAE State Security Department announced it has dismantled a terrorist network operating inside the country, aimed at undermining national security and stability. According to the statement, suspects were involved in covert activities, including recruitment, intelligence gathering, and planning sabotage operations targeting sensitive sites. Investigations revealed links to Iran’s “Wilayat al-Faqih” network and coordination with foreign actors. Authorities say the group spread extremist ideology, held secret meetings inside and outside the UAE, and attempted to recruit Emirati youth while channeling funds through illegal means. Dozens of suspects have been arrested.
The UAE has arrested 27 suspects connected to an Iranian terror network accused of plotting attacks aimed at destabilizing the country.
