Howard University Hospital, in partnership with D.C. Public Schools, proudly hosted a powerful 2nd Annual Mini-Medical School White Coat Ceremony for students from Harriet Tubman Elementary School. During this inspiring event, students were formally “coated,” symbolizing their first step into the world of medicine. With guidance and mentorship from Howard University College of Medicine students, these young scholars gained early exposure to healthcare careers, opening doors to future opportunities in science and medicine. Programs like this are helping to build a more diverse healthcare workforce while inspiring the next generation right here in our community. Nearly 40,000 Washingtonians have had help affording college from DCTAG in the past 25 years. And this year alone, 4,500 students were approved—the highest in 5 years. Now, students can receive $15,00 per year for college, previously capped at $10,000. Applications are OPEN.

In School Year 2023-2024, @dcpublicschools launched 6th Grade Academies (6GA) to support our students' transition to middle school. Two years in, 6GA is increasing students’ attendance, improving their sense of belonging, and contributing to math achievement 🗒️
