Don’t tell me what to be mad about, explain to me what I can do about it.

Popping in to recommend you visit blue 5ky for a while. Check out the vibe and the way things work without an algorithm. Just people liking and sharing things. It just feels healthier. It’s where I’m at. I miss some of you here and hope our paths cross there or out and about.

Extending my analogue August and reducing my time in this place. I’m LittleHen on a similar, but sweeter, algorithm-free platform. Would be lovely to see you there or out and about it the fresh air 💙

I’m going for an #AnalogueAugust, offline, outside, reflective, active, reading, resting, focussing locally. Take care of each other.

It's easy to give our attention to the spectacle of hate. Do the same for the love that these folk have for their community, and remember that these people are everywhere.
Replying to @richardgaisford
And now, the community clear up. A local construction company deployed men and machines in Southport, locals turning out with brooms and wheelbarrows to clear the debris. @GMB

A lovely thread
30 Dec 2023
I boarded my Southwest flight, made eye contact with this woman, and knew I needed to sit next to her. Meet Vera, a champion pistol shooter. We talked for 3 hours. I spent 10 hours weaving her stories together. Over time, I’ll share them in this thread. “I won 8 national championships for pistol shooting after I turned 50. I didn’t even learn how to shoot until I was 41. Now, I’m 77 and competing in a new sport for fun: shotguns. Let me tell you something. You can write a brand new life after 50. This time around, you have the knowledge, skill, and wisdom from trying and failing. And most importantly, you have money. I needed so much money to travel and shoot. Buying bullets is like setting cash on fire. Trust me, 50 is a new beginning. You can do even more. You can be even prettier. You can have so many tools at your fingertips. When you’re young, you don’t really trust your abilities. But don’t worry, you will, because time will help you prove yourself to yourself.”

If the going rate is 4 or 5 years for a zoom call to plan a peaceful road block, what would be appropriate for those who invade a grieving, traumatised community, 24 hours after the deaths of three little girls, to participate in a full blown race riot?

This is what bravery and humanity looks like — not burning down a police van high on cocaine.

Our climate is changing🌇 Our streets must also change 👉🌳 Too many are still tree-less and grey. During heatwaves they overheat, posing serious health risks. Streets dominated by concrete cannot cope with #climatechange 🌳Let’s plant the trees we need for a cooler future 🌳

After her husband John died, @missjanetellis experienced how difficult it can be to do the necessary admin while grieving. That's why she supports our petition asking companies to do more to support terminally ill & bereaved customers. Add your name ✍️ bit.ly/3A3Jh9A
