A solar storm, also known as coronal mass ejection or (CME), is moving through space and is expected to impact Earth on 8 June (later in the evening Indian time).
The space storm is moderately strong. It may cause some minor technological impacts such as brief GPS navigation errors and orbital decay of low earth orbiting satellites. There is however a chance of wide spread auroras in high latitude regions in North America and Northern Europe (auroras are visible only at night time, so time of impact of the CME is a critical factor here).
Given the properties of the incoming CME, I do not foresee any severe societal impacts anywhere, including in India. So no doomsday scenario discussions please.
