Today, I stood with our brave firefighters to oppose a dangerous proposal in the County budget, shifting the roughly $30 million cost of air-rescue helicopters onto the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue fund. This has the potential of increasing response times for our first responders, when our goal should always be to reduce them. Every minute matters in an emergency, and one minute can mean the difference between life and death. We should never balance our budget on the backs of our first responders.
