On behalf of CUPE Local 416 and the first responders we represent, we are devastated by the tragic loss of Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who was killed in the line of duty during a police operation in North York today.
Today, our entire first responder community mourns alongside the Pinizzotto family, his friends, colleagues, and all members of the Toronto Police Service.
Every day, police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and other emergency personnel put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities. The sacrifice made today is a painful reminder of the risks they face in service to others.
As union members and fellow first responders, we understand the profound bond that exists among those who answer the call in moments of crisis. When one of us falls, all of us feel the loss.
We extend our deepest condolences to Constable Pinizzotto's loved ones and to every member of the Toronto Police Service grieving this unimaginable tragedy. We also hold in our thoughts all first responders and frontline personnel affected by today's events.
