Bats are still hibernating, which is a state of inactivity characterised by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate. They will slowly start waking up in Spring when temperatures increase and insects are around.

Bats play an important role in many habitats around the world. Some tropical plants depend partly or wholly on certain bat species to pollinate their flowers or spread their seeds, while many bats, including all British species, help control insects by feeding on them.
October is here! More mating is taking place, and building up fat reserves is becoming crucial to survive the winter season. Bats are seeking suitable hibernation sites, and beginning periods of torpor.
Join us this Sunday at 5pm when we will be kicking off #BatFest with artist @MaisyInston teaching us how to draw a bat and sharing some interesting bat facts in our Sketch-a-bat session.
