so the old men (Keller) counseled the young kings of the whites to go easy on the black folks nowadays but the young white men didn't listen to the old counselors and told them to scourge them with scorpions and mock them with horrific memes

some peoples hearts will become hardened when you confront them with real evils.

No, I just said men are responsible for their own sins. But do you really not see how all of this obsession with race and guilt helped create this?

i think these are probably tendentious travesties of anything that actually happened and if you became a nazi because of them that's on you. The Keller one is tendentious i know.
No, it did not come out of nowhere. Men are responsible for their own sins. But I think we can create an environment that will encourage certain sins. And years and years of big evangelical leadership, insisting that we needed to do things like performatively wash the feet of black people in church or stand up and applaud to show that we were repenting for our white privilege is exactly the kind of poisonous environment that I believe has helped encourage this garbage. We had the most famous Presbyterian theologian in the country for years teaching that normal things like negotiating the best price for a car was somehow sinful if you were white. We had places like the Gospel Coalition Christianity today, and even World magazine under Marvin Olasky promoting CRT disciples like Jemar Tisby. So now you have encouraged people to identify with their skin color. Again, their sin is their own. But this was not well done. Even today you will have them defending segregated church groups for minorities that they would never allow for white people. And they shouldn’t allow it, to be clear, for anyone. All this wickedness is creating division on all sides, and it must ALL be repudiated.

public comment is a huge hazard. alternative is people feel 1) things aren't being transparent / things are hidden People asked not to make public comment feel policed and wronged. An abuse advocate might mock the WLC on the 9th commandment because they coudn't abide it.
At the end of May, I publicly commented in unduly strong terms on a judicial action taken by the Rio Grande Presbytery. I was wrong to weigh in without knowing all the facts of the presbytery’s deliberations, and I regret that my comments offended brothers both in that presbytery and beyond it, to whom I now offer a sincere public apology. Furthermore, I have decided to resign as Chairman of the Mission to North America (MNA) National Coordinator Search Committee, and I will refrain from commenting on sensitive PCA issues for the remainder of the Search. The work before us is far too important to be sidetracked by such distractions. I am grateful for the collegiality and care the other members of the MNA Permanent Committee have shown to me while we conferred on this matter. By God's grace, MNA is in good hands. May God bless the PCA as we enter our 53rd year of ministry together this month in Louisville.

reminds me of this. We need a vigorous press and free speech protections to "semi-slander" officials who maybe are acting sus so they "fear the people" but that's American adversarial government. Not so among us... x.com/Loyal2tGo17/status/206…

American government famously is Calvinistic in that it assume we don’t need virtue for it to work because we have none. It’s for men not angels What of church government? Is there a presumption of holy motives and actions?

but what if church bodies are acting sus? Some clearly are. Some are doing their best but seem sus. Some are doing their best and the sus goes in left and right directions!

why on earth did we change the name of Munchausen Syndrome (whimsical, literary) to "factitious disorder" (hard to pronounce, bland)

oh that's why. Also Factitious Disease was the earlier coinage

Taking every single claim of harm seriously and literally leads to a tyranny of edge cases, where any hypothetical harm can stop a new policy. It paralyzes society from ever being able to change anything. Read the full piece over at @TheArgumentMag: theargumentmag.com/p/sometim…

Under 16 social media ban in the UK? Which means if you are over 16, you have to prove that you are over 16 before you can access social media. Which means you have to ID yourself to the government. Which means if you run a pseudonymous account the government will know who you are. Which means if you say something the government disapproves of, they can arrest you.

the UK should make a law then that they can't arrest you for saying things.

ironic it was literally about immigrants from another plane of existence. Also interesting that Lewis let them go back home ... if they wanted.
“Do you believe in Aslan?” said Caspian to Nikabrik. “I’ll believe in anyone or anything,” said Nikabrik, “that’ll batter these cursed Telmarine barbarians to pieces or drive them out of Narnia. Anyone or anything, Aslan or the White Witch, do you understand?”

but... “I am sorry for Nikabrik, though he hated me from the first moment he saw me. He had gone sour inside from long suffering and hating. If we had won quickly he might have become a good Dwarf in the days of peace. I don’t know which of us killed him. I’m glad of that.”
