Excited to share our new paper! š
We explore how SES shapes early math engagement, finding:
1.SES-related variability in parentsā spontaneous focus on numeracy (SFON).
2.SES moderates the link between SFON and parental math talk during play.
Check it out!
Just realized #SRCD2025 only accepts paper symposium submissions, not individual papers. Hoping to find a home for our two interesting papers! If you're looking for additional papers for your symposium or want to collaborate on a new one, please let me know!
Paper#1 reveals that while parents increase math talk when informed about importance of early math, this often comes at the cost of reduced autonomy support and lower child engagement.

Thrilled to share Iāll join @UChicago@HarrisPolicy as a postdoc scholar, working with @ariel_kalil. Iāll keep working on understanding factors that might impact home learning environments and ways to promote early cognitive development.
Successfully defended my dissertation on SES disparities in the home math environment and early math development. Having three empirical studies was bittersweet but Iām finally Dr. Lu!!!
