another great work by the wonderful and brilliant @Ritaagarwal6 !
Physicians are stretched thin—longer hours, sicker patients, rising admin burdens, and stagnant reimbursement. With insurer consolidation and federal cuts, what does this mean for patient care? Insights from @Ritaagarwal6 via @kevinmd: ow.ly/beA050Z807X

The greatest risk to your health under anesthesia is typically anesthesia. With ME and LC, you may have a tougher recovery and symptom flare. But this is a risk assessment discussion, not risk avoidance. Here's my advice, as an anesthesiologist and someone with LC...🧵
Does anyone know if general anaesthesia can be a problem in severe MECFS? My main concerns are respiratory depression while unconscious, seizure PEM and worsening of baseline from recovery. Does anyone have any experience? #MECFS #ME #LC

Shay’s story is amazing; the persistence, resilience and creativeness required to forge ahead - with some timely mentoring - are what stand out for me. Please watch, or listen. And be inspired! @ASAMonitor @ASALifeline

so excited about the opportunity to delve into utilizing intraoperative EEG monitoring to impact postoperative cognitive function after general anesthesia. Delirium? Dementia? The future is now for high-level anesthesia interventions.

Important data
Nearly half of the people taking semaglutide still had food in their stomach before surgery. These results show that people taking semaglutide may have a higher risk during surgery. Using stomach ultrasound can help doctors plan safer anaesthesia for each patient. #anaesthesia #MedTwitter doi.org/10.1111/anae.70129

people debate whether Medicine is a "calling" or a "profession". Well, I do think Physicians have a higher responsibility - one that they swore to when they graduated - and once that trust is lost via hucksterism and capitalist greed, one doesn't get to go back.
Replying to @PeterAttiaMD
Good that you posted a response, Peter. Agree, there is no defense for the now public and egregious interactions you had with Epstein. But the man you are today vs 10 years ago has not changed w/r to arrogance. Moreover, these days you are riddled with conflicts as a huckster for David Bars, AG-1 supplement, and so many other things that diminish your credibility. That's a shame.

A tragedy at beloved Ward 86 at ZSFG/UCSF, seminal in HIV history, & where my spouse works. A social worker was attacked by a disturbed patient, and died. There were security lapses leading to this, and we are all angry. Most of all, grief. Too much violence and pain, everywhere

Integrity, Self-Respect, and - oh - the Hippocratic Oath of doing no harm. Those are essentially the base upon which a physician’s career is built, no matter how high they climb.
Dr. Susan Monarez: “I could have stayed silent, agreed to the demands, and no one would have known. What the public would have seen were scientists dismissed without cause and vaccine protections quietly eroded…I could have kept the office, the title, but I would have lost the one thing that cannot be replaced: My integrity.”
