Heading to the beach tomorrow? Be aware that there is an increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents at Northern California beaches. Sneaker waves can move further up the beach than anticipated and may catch you off guard. Never turn your back on the ocean. #CAwx

Nearly 85% of wildfires in the United States are caused by people and preventable. As you head outdoors to camp, hike, and gather around the fire, let’s keep safety part of the adventure. 🔥 Check local fire restrictions before lighting a fire. 🔥Keep fires small and never leave them unattended. 🔥Clear dry grass and debris around the fire ring. 🔥Keep water and a shovel nearby. 🔥Drown, stir, and feel the ashes before leaving. If it’s too hot to touch, it’s too hot to leave.

Red Flag Warning does not mean a wildfire has started. It’s a weather alert that tells us conditions are right for a fire to start easily and spread quickly: dry vegetation, low humidity, warm temperatures, and strong winds. If you live in California, think of it as a “high fire risk day” where even a small spark can turn into a fast-moving wildfire. Homeowners should prepare by moving anything that can burn inside or away from the home. On Red Flag Warning days, avoid ALL activities that can create sparks—like mowing dry grass, dragging chains, or using heavy equipment outdoors. See smoke or fire? Call it in right away. #OneLessSpark #ReadyForWildfire #RedFlagWarnings #CAwx
