An important milestone (both positive and negative) was just reached for AI which I don't see many people talking about. For the first time, over 50% of the text content written on the Internet was written by AI last month. 52%. This is important because AI is constantly learning on the new data posted on the Internet. Writing, videos, etc. If 50% of the content written on the Internet is written by AI then new versions of AI are only learning on material written by the older versions of AI. Conclusion, the ability of AI to write is going to plateau. i.e. It will never get better at story telling, nuanced writing, etc. It will get better at facts and summarizing the facts but not on actual quality writing (which is a hard thing to define). Videos it will always get better on. There were 1.2 million hours A MINUTE uploaded to the Internet last month. AI will get better at video. It can train on all of those millions of videos. But there isn't enough data of good writing. There aren't a million Hemingway stories being uploaded every minute. There is not enough data of good writing for AI to learn. And now AI is learning on specifically sub-par data (its learning on older versions of AI). AI will be a great tool for research and perhaps a good source of first drafts but Creativity and Wisdom will still be the required skills of a good writer. Forever.
