Lets not underestimate how disastrous it would be to Burnham momentum if the post by-election conversation is about Restore instead of Burnham.

Should probably clarify that I hate Theresa May and that she is one of the worst PMs Britain has ever had. Corbyn losing in 2017 was disastrous.

Kinda fascinating that the most liberal PM Britain has ever had was a Tory.

When you won’t give the MoD infinity money because they pissed away £6 billion on Ajax and £200 billion on a Trident system which possibly doesn’t work, and repeatedly failed tests. #jesuisrachelreeves

The hard left say give out more benefits (like winter fuel payments) or nationalise (leading to no more capital stock). The right says drill for oil and gas (terrible long-term way to generate electricity). We need to triple our output so which political party is outright advocating for more solar, nuclear, battery and more pylons and substations as the way to make electricity cheaper again? Who is treating this like it’s war time and we’ve got five years to fix this?

I know this is going to annoy literally everyone but I'm going to say it anyway: Whether it's Brixton 1981, London 2011, or Belfast 2026; rioters, looters, and arsonists always try to claim noble political motivations for their thuggery. But it is always bollocks. The Brixton riots weren't really about 'racism'. The London riots weren't really about 'austerity'. And the Belfast riots aren't really about 'public safety'. There's a reason this specific kind of lawlessness, thuggery, and arson only takes place in the summer months. Because it's not about politics. It's about adrenaline. It's about fun. It's a form of grotesque entertainment for a specific type of dimwit with a high propensity to violence. Don't defend the dimwits who are literally torching their communities for laugh. Who are picking fights as a form of entertainment. Who are no more righteous in their anger than your common or garden playground bully. Up with this we must not put. From left nor from right. It's the same low IQ, temperamentally violent bullshit every single time.

Nah
A proportional parliamentary system will always be much better than a presidential system or a first-past-the-post (FPTP) system.

If the left concedes that higher taxation on all British taxpayers is necessary, they will never win an election again. We are too American, too Thatcherite as a country to accept higher taxes, most people would rather have a smaller state and less welfare.
I agree. European social democrats have always been more honest than the British Left. The euro left made it clear that if you want cradle-to-the-grave socialism then everybody will have to pay much higher taxes. The British Left claims it can be done just by taxing the rich, which is nonsense. But given the current state of Middle Britain — with real incomes largely stagnant since the GFC of 2008 — good luck with winning an election telling middle-earners they should pay more taxes.

The Tory party is really really hard to kill. They’re going to win an election sooner or later.
Conservative MPs insist they are happy and their leader is doing a 'fantastic job' but polling tells a different story trib.al/ayerVaT

This is true but not sure how why you would be pro immigration if you want to increase British wages.
Supermarkets are consistently undercutting small & independent businesses whilst exploiting workers. Let's make sure everyone has a wage where they can live in dignity and stop the hoarding of wealth by the super rich.

Please Andy Burnham save my country.
Hinkley Point C might be delayed again. Why? Because Natural England say the £700 million spent on fish protection at Britain's next nuclear power station is not enough. We can't go on like this.

It is mind boggling that we can not afford 12bn over the course of a decade.
When Sir Keir Starmer jetted into Tokyo for his first visit, the Prime Minister claimed Britain’s relationship with Japan was now “the strongest it has been in decades”. Yet just five months later, cracks are appearing in this rosy façade and it's all thanks to a next-generation stealth jet ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

Ranked: - streeting - milliband - haigh - reeves - shabana Milliband is ideologically more in line with me, but Streeting has publicly had better ideas, would calm the markets and a deal would avoid a Labour leadership election
Burnham’s choice of chancellor will define him: @joshglancy is right thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
