When I taught in the classroom, I explained to students that a "pledge" was a promise. When we say the pledge of allegiance, we are making a promise to be loyal.
On Flag Day, nearly 100 years ago, former President Calvin Coolidge urged Americans to remember the significance of the flag and the responsibilities that accompany citizenship: "When we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights, we must remember that it is equally a symbol of our duties. Every glory that we associate with it is the result of duty done." President Coolidge (June 12, 1931, Northampton, MA)

Isn't this fantastic?
Local nonprofit hopes to double Trump Account deposits for local children “The Anand Legacy Foundation's local commitment will contribute up to $100,000 to each of five Kern County organizations to help ensure mothers enrolled in eligible rehabilitation programs and other vulnerable families are connected to this opportunity.” "Kern County is leading the way," Fong said. "Ajay is creating a model for other philanthropists, for other foundations to follow." bakersfield.com/news/local-n…

I take risks because I assume a positive outcome. Every. Single. Time.

My favorite @elonmusk quote that I often send friends: Do not fear losing. “You will lose,” Musk says. “It will hurt the first fifty times. When you get used to losing, you will play each game with less emotion.” You will be more fearless, take more risks.

Genius.
The American Dream begins with opportunity. With the creation of Trump Accounts, our community is coming together to support our most vulnerable children and invest in their future. Thanks to local generosity, newborns will receive an even stronger financial head start. It’s been inspiring to help this effort grow in Congress and see its impact at home. What started as an idea is already making a difference—creating new opportunities and helping ensure more children have a stronger foundation to pursue their dreams.

My ancestors were dairy farmers. I've always been proud of that fact.
Last week, I joined @RepVanOrden at Gilbertson Farms in El Mound, Wisconsin, to celebrate National Dairy Month and President Trump's signing of the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. This commonsense legislation brings whole milk back to our schools and gives children access to the nutritious foods they need to grow and thrive. Drink Whole Milk. Eat Real Food.

History is my new favorite thing.
We talk endlessly about preparing children for the future and almost never about connecting them to the past.

Go visit the library once a week. Make it a normal thing. Get acquainted with the librarians. Make it a second home.
Ensuring that your child is a reader is more important than ever. Create a home with very limited access to screens, read to your kids, with your kids, in front of your kids, fill the house with compelling books and magazines, and talk as a family together about what everyone is reading, delighting together in all the cool things!

Love this. Hooray for the chickens.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Here is the first picture of @VP @JDVance and @SLOTUS from the new chicken coop at the Naval Observatory. The Vances are seen holding one of their new chicks in the coop window, built by Carolina Coops and provided at no cost to taxpayers.

Hooray for the chickens!
Way to go, Vance family! We love our Carolina coop! It’s taught our kids responsibility and the importance of being close to your food source. My eggs taste better than factory farm eggs! @CarolinaCoops @rcamposduffy

Education is very much like a two way toss with a ball. The teacher evaluates what a student can handle (beach ball, ping pong ball, bowling ball, fast ball, curve ball, etc.) and throws it. Then, the student has a responsibility to pay attention, try to catch the ball, etc.
