It was my pleasure today to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 8th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers' Council (NTRC) in Dutse, Jigawa State, under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar.
I conveyed the President’s message of goodwill and solidarity to the distinguished gathering. The President and the entire administration fully recognise the strategic role of traditional institutions, and remain committed to deepening engagement with traditional rulers across the country to advance peace, security, national cohesion, and development.
Across generations, our traditional rulers have served as custodians of culture and values, mediators in times of conflict, and trusted bridges between government and the people. Their proximity to the grassroots, and moral authority, make them indispensable partners in governance, peacebuilding, and community mobilisation.
I shared the progress that we are making in strengthening coordination among the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and other security institutions, which has led to significant gains against criminal and terrorist groups across various parts of the country.
I made it clear that we recognise that lasting peace cannot be achieved through security operations alone. All tiers of government must work very closely together to address poverty, unemployment, social exclusion, and the lack of economic opportunities that often fuel insecurity.
Across the economy, President Tinubu's reforms are visible and yielding results: agriculture, livestock development, solid minerals, infrastructure, education financing, consumer credit, support for small businesses, and much more.
