@Frogboyx1Gaming That means FSR 4.1 on RDNA 2 will use shader resources that are also needed by the game. AMD says reducing the number of shader cycles used by the upscaler is difficult, and this is why RDNA 2 requires more optimization work before release.

Quoted by Videocardz. My understanding is, they are lowering the quality of FSR4 so that it runs faster. Then it would look like Xess that's on the market for years, just a bit faster. My tinfoil theory is that they want to make FSR4 possible for PS5 in 1080p.

Microsoft is looking for a cheap Xbox. Why not 1. release Xbox Series say SL with 16gb ram, 2. port both consoles to win11. Then FSR4 MFG works, Minecraft PT works, zero effort, less cost of development. Xbox was originally desinged to be easy to use Windows PC. I see value there

That's nothing short of amazing. Great job. Now add FSR4p and DLSS Enabler for 4xFG and measure again.
So, just doing a straight Cachy-OS install without really tweaking the system specifically for the AMD BC-250 (Basically the PS5 apu) leaves a whole bunch of performance on the table. All 40CU unlocked, pushing 4ghz on CPU is pretty much double perf what I got with stock.

Curious. This time I enabled all 40CUs on the AMD BC-250 and it worked without an issue. ~25% performance bump from that. Pretty sizeable for just flipping a single switch

@Frogboyx1Gaming IMO fsr4.1 needs to launch before Steam Machine or AMD sinks gaming on windows. For AMD sake, my guess is, fsr4 for rdna2 and rdna3 must land on windows first. Launch as beta on beta driver if needed. If SM gets fsr 4 first - that'd make Linux better for all PCs.

I've got both Win11 and Bazzite on my rog ally and it's my main, I barely use my high end PC. I'll play on whatever's faster. Also, first platform to utilize xdna2 for fsr fg wins.

@AncientGameplay What About Ray Regeneration? Is RDNA3 getting only upscaling? I mean, that's still great but FSR 4.1 was redstone, had RR tech I would really like to use with Crimson Desert and mod it to any other game. I think speed of Jack Hyungh AMD is bad because of him...

IMO, his vision for proffesional product, without finewine, without releasing unfinished features but way earlier - that has failed this gen because it made AMD very slow. Or AI took all the focus - those are my 2 theories. I miss the old fine-wine AMD.

@AncientGameplay Some rummors about AMD MFG are surfacing - knowing them, no doubt its RDNA4 only. Can now measure modding to official update ratio - MFG mod is in 10th version now - lately they optimized speed and lowered UI artifacts. MFG works really nicely on handhelds...

I'm running on Xbox Ally X (dynamic, 4x starts below 35fps, 3x below 45, 2x below 90). 4x is fluent above 90fps and 23fps base but not all buttons work (attack doesn't register in stress :) ). Good comfort is when base fps don't go below 27 (with MFG on)...

So in order to have both good fps and medium details I play in output 720p on my 7 inch. 900p is possible but low and hard to stabilize. But overal both FSR4 and MFG are very good for handhelds, that need serious strain to go high fps. Plus, Crimson is arelatively slow game.

If you could just see the top list of details presets and click one of them, have all mods installed and configured, have game details configured - and just click play - for casual person that's 2x-4x fps.

I've managed to get Lossles Scaling 3x back online, had added FSR4 to Crimson Desert on my 12CU RDNA2 handheld. Bumped my fps to 90-120fps range (or 75fps in smart medium-high details). That's framerate I hope everyone has without much hassle.

@AncientGameplay Why I believe Crimson desert is AMD GI 1.2: light bleeds through walls when quickly moving camera, 2 labels of reflections, specular low res one is everywhere, it's smudgy, laggy and pixelated but awesome, pixelation is there, I usually play in 340p and here 4k..

RTGI scales way more linear resolution to fps than Nvidia PT, RR it's needed to fight with pixelation but it makes night under every bush - I'd say it's RR with little number of rays and GI1.2 has very little rays, time consistency, no lag or TAA blur as if 90% of frame...

..was generated in single frame, opposed to over 4 seconds like with restir, performance scales way better for AMD than Nvidia Path tracing. The low amount of colors propagated with lights seems to suggest little number of rays denoising. That's my observations.

@Frogboyx1Gaming @AncientGameplay It seems interesting week is coming, begining in 7 hours.

One more thing, I don't know if it's official or common knowledge but fp8 models seem to normally work on AMD GPU - but my AI is very slow, what is 2 minutes on 3060 is 10min on my 7900xt. I can see gpu working and utilizing all vram normally.

@AncientGameplay If you impersonate DLSS RR on resident evil 9 and use Linux, would it be possible to run Path tracing on 7900xtx in 1080p? reddit.com/r/radeon/comments…

Note on that link - this is beta of mod, many things not fixed yet but already usable and only guaranteed in Cyberpunk and it has to have reflex on (or optiscaler reflex impersonation).

Just a question, I don't own the game.

@AncientGameplay Wait, Crimson desert has cheap Ray tracing, it does 4k60 native with rt ultra. It's got RR. Is it perhaps first neural rendering game? Is it first game officially with cheap Path tracing?

That could explain radio silence and moving Starfield and Steam Machine launches.

@Frogboyx1Gaming @AncientGameplay AMD fail - HX470 AM5 - and no ryzen 470, only half of gpu to be made available. That's stupid. Also - IMO, not much hope for 3np 16CU IO on Zen6. AMD will probably release it only to expensive laptops - where that ioGPU makes ZERO sense.

So AMD Krackan leaks are true and top unit on revised chips is 8core 8cu. I was really hoping for AMD to create medium 1080p gaming but with good AI. MLID leaks say GPU inside IO for zen6 is supposed to go up to 2nm RDNA5 16CU - but now I wouldn't count on them going to low tier.

Following current logic, low spec PC would get 8 cores, 3np RDNA3.5 8CU at best. So another missed opportunity will happend end of 2026. AMD keeps not utilizing their unique advantages.
