I understand the pushback, I was there once because it is really hard to get in the industry. You grind, you get rejection emails, no one tells you what you are doing wrong. I do think the advise of "just have a great portfolio" no longer works. I am not good at networking, so I made a Youtube channel. Almost every job I got came from ppl looking at my channel, not my portfolio.
So something I tell my students is intentional practice with constraints.
I can understand the pushback but I truly believe Henning is right with context.
