Following the recent Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar is considering the purchase of Russia’s S-400 Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems to bolster its air defense and assert its sovereignty, amid growing doubts over U.S. commitment to its security.
Doha has previously held discussions with Moscow regarding the S-400, though no agreement has been finalized. Any such acquisition could risk U.S. sanctions and significantly change the balance of defense dynamics in the Gulf.
