4:37 AM Cats: “Steve! Steve! Emergency! Wake up! This cannot wait!” 4:40 AM Food hits bowl. 4:43 AM Cats: “Thank you for your service.” Then they vanish into some secret cat dimension where they spend the next eight hours sleeping behind a chair, under a bed, inside a closet, or somehow folded into a space physically smaller than the cat itself. Meanwhile I’m making coffee thinking: “You little freeloaders woke me up like the house was on fire, and now you’re both unconscious.” The best part is when you spend twenty minutes looking for them. “BOBO?” Nothing. “SILLY?” Nothing. You start wondering if they got outside. Then three hours later one of them casually walks through the living room stretching like they just got back from a hard day at the office. Cats don’t play hide-and-seek. They play Hide and Sleep. The objective isn’t to avoid being found. The objective is to make you think you’re their owner when in reality you’re just the breakfast staff. I imagine their morning meeting goes something like this: Silly: “You wake him up.” Bobo: “I woke him up yesterday.” Silly: “Fine. We’ll both yell until he feeds us.” Bobo: “Then what?” Silly: “Back under the bed. Same as always.” Bobo: “Good plan.” And somehow they’ve convinced humans this arrangement is perfectly reasonable. Dogs wake you up because they want to spend the day with you. Cats wake you up because they have a scheduling conflict with an empty food bowl. After that, you’re dismissed. Until dinner. 😆🐈🐈‍⬛ That’s not pet ownership. That’s being the overnight manager of a very small, very furry hotel.
