In a recorded message from #Bunia, @Chikwe_I shared an update on the response to the #Ebola outbreak. The support being provided includes strengthening the health system that will deliver basic health service e.g immunsation, maternal health, beyond the health emergency response From the opening plenary, no country handles health crises alone. @RD_WPRO mentioned that "global health security is built not by the strongest nations acting alone, but by all nations standing together". @mvankerkhove took delegates through the Hantavirus cruise ship outbreak which demonstrated how countries came together to contain the outbreak. Science & solidarity in action. And also on the Ebola outbreak in the #DRC, she mentioned how we keep pouring billions into response while prevention hardly gets any funding, reiterating how we need to shift our approach, moving away from the "cycle of panic and neglect" and to "think of health as defence." #GHS2026 #GlobalHealthSecurity
