I have never done anything which has been better for my own well-being than buying a camper, building it out into a mobile R&D lab and just going off into the mountains to grind away in peace while I'm in the states. I have played around with @googlegemma 4 12B and I am impressed. I see a lot of people missing the point - it's still a small model so it excels at reasoning rather than detailed knowledge. I built a local agent into my M4 max MacBook Pro using Gemma and built knowledge skills into it. Each category has as separate knowledge base compilation which it goes off of. It runs two passes, one just the question against the appropriate knowledge base which builds a context cache for the agent to use on the second pass where it ties in my chat history, soul and memory files to cater the response with only the appropriate information. It's still really fast for local and has worked amazingly well in testing. I built skills on a hand full of programming languages, ISO standards and IEC standards. I also built a skill to launch Claude with this model. In the rare instance where wifi is not available... we still build.
