I'm the CRO of @Sync, Canada's end-to-end encrypted cloud storage provider, and Canada's Bill C-22 stands to cause immeasurable harm to the rights of Canadian citizens, and an industry that Canada should be leading in the technology sector. This bill will cause an exodus of companies, investment, and talent and will not make Canadians any safer. This is a mass government surveillance bill that aims to make privacy companies and people agents of the state. Canada already has methods to collect data, through legal means and using warrants. This goes against everything @Sync stands for and we will continue to fight against this bill and we are preparing additional measures should this misguided bill come to pass. @mgeist @JCCFCanada @MelissaLMRogers @Tablesalt13

Bill C-22 is facing growing opposition from across the political and tech spectrum. Signal says it could leave Canada. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke calls the bill “a huge mistake.” Apple, Meta, NordVPN, Windscribe, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and even U.S. Congressional leaders are raising alarms about privacy, cybersecurity, and mass surveillance risks. thebureau.news/p/bill-c-22-s…

‼️MAJOR BREAKING: This has exploded open! A NEW full list of tech companies speaking out against Carney's bill C-22, with many threatening to EXIT Canada entirely. Some are CANADIAN companies! 👇🏼👇🏼 Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp): Opposes Part 2, warning it could force backdoors or spyware installation. Testified before Parliament. The bill would “conscript private companies into service as an arm of the government surveillance apparatus.” Apple: publicly warned the bill could force encryption backdoors and undermine device security. Quote: “This legislation could allow the Canadian government to force companies to break encryption by inserting backdoors into their products—something Apple will never do.” Windscribe (Canadian VPN provider): Joins Signal and threatens to relocate its headquarters or follow suit. Quote: “We won’t be far behind if C-22 passes. In its current state, VPNs would almost certainly require us to log identifying user data. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke: Vocal Canadian tech leader warning of broader economic damage. Quotes (on X): “C-22 is looking like a huge mistake. It worries me a great deal. There is so much nonsense in there that it may well end up dealing a death blow to Canadian tech viability.” Signal: VP Udbhav Tiwari said they would rather pull out of Canada entirely than compromise end-to-end encryption and privacy promises to users. NordVPN: Warned they would "remove our presence from Canadian jurisdiction" before complying, to protect their no-logs policy and encryption. The Chair of the the US House Judiciary Committee and Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee are now also investigating.

C-22 must be scrapped.
Millions of Canadians use Signal, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger and everyone needs to understand that C-22 will give gov’t the ability to force these companies to create access to those systems.

If I were Dunkin', I would do the following to crush Timmy's: - Ban the hiring of any TFWs - Go to local high schools and pass out applications - Bake all pastries in-house - Have solid, consistent security trained to immediately intervene when someone sketchy hangs around the doors or drive thru - Do a "Roll up the Rim"-style giveaway where you don't need a stupid app - Advertise everything above
BREAKING: Dunkin’ Donuts is returning to Canada, with plans to open several locations across the country. The chain officially left Canada in 2018 after years of struggling to compete with Tim Hortons.

TODAY is the day. The DOJ must charge Fauci for lying under oath or lose the chance forever. This man oversaw gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, lied to Congress about it repeatedly, and watched as you were called crazy for asking questions. The statute of limitations expires tomorrow. The American people have waited long enough for accountability.

Every ‘equal society’ in history ended the same way: with force. You cannot redistribute productivity without coercion. That’s the part radical socialism never admits. The more 'equality' you want, the more authoritarian it must become to enforce it.

I am writing from FPC Morgantown prison in West Virginia. It has been about 5 months since I first surrendered myself in December, and I will be honest, the prospect of a Presidential pardon is very low. There was some hope during the Bitcoin 2026 conference, but that has now come and gone, and one must come to terms with the fact that I am simply a federal prisoner without money, power, or influence, and I will serve my full sentence. It will be years before I can even attempt to rebuild my life. Which is why I am now writing this appeal to you all now. Things are dire and we need your help. Lauren and I need your help desperately. More than ever before. We have over $2 Million of debt due to legal fees. We have a $250k fine the judge levied against us. Every day I get letters and calls from anxious lawyers looking to be paid. Or the DOJ demanding I start making payments on my fine. Perhaps it was denial or delusion, but I had hoped to do what I have always done and dig myself out of this hole myself - but with the reality of serving a full sentence that is not possible. I hate to ask for your help in this way but we are entirely out of options. We need to pay off these legal bills and other debts accrued attempting to defend myself. We desperately need your help. Now. For 10 years Bill and I built and published open source code and tools for Bitcoin users. Those same tools and code are what the government says were criminal. The tools and code still exist, they are out there right now and always will be. The creators however are locked away in Federal prison. The creators are the ones whose lives have been decimated. The creators are the ones who have been financially wiped out. The creators are the ones who desperately need you now. Please donate whatever you can to bc1qtjjcvn98wh7dfd55m8kxhjcfexanttwt8gtan8 . We have to get this albatross from around our neck. Samourai had well over 100,000 users. These users pushed over 2 billion dollars through our open source tools. We need those users and any bitcoiner who appreciates the work that we put into this industry for over a decade to help us now. Please donate whatever you can to bc1qtjjcvn98wh7dfd55m8kxhjcfexanttwt8gtan8 right now. If you require a private address please DM my wife @leamuirleyn and she will provide one. Please do not delay. Time is of the essence. Please help us. - Keonne

"Bitcoin without privacy is the perfect panopticon." @leamuirleyn says the Samourai case wasn't just about Samourai. It was about scaring developers away from working on privacy tools at all.

41 kidnappings of crypto holders in France in 3.5 months of 2026. Why? 🥖 French tax officials selling crypto owners' data to criminals (Ghalia C.) massive tax database leaks. Now the state also wants IDs and private messages of social media users. More data = More victims.

Square just auto-enabled Bitcoin Lightning payments across 4 million U.S. merchant terminals. No opt-in required. Sellers receive USD by default. This is the most significant Bitcoin payments infrastructure move since the Lightning Network launched. Every coffee shop, barber, and food truck on Square can now accept sats over Lightning at zero fees through 2026. Jack Dorsey's Block didn't ask for permission. They flipped the switch.
