are we still in charge of our own brains? or are we just getting really good at accepting AI’s answers? as someone with ADHD, my brain already feels fried, like it has 47 tabs open by default so yes part of me LOVES the idea of AI just taking over write the email tell me what to prioritize MAKE THE DECISION just take it off my brain.. the constant dopamine hit of “progress” is addictive and AI gives you that fast really fast we’ve always offloaded thinking - shopping lists, calculators, google maps - but we were still in control with AI is different you ask important questions and it gives you a full, confident answer and suddenly, the thinking has already been DONE on your behalf all that’s left is whether you accept it or challenge it (that’s cognitive surrender) cognitive offloading is when a tool helps you think cognitive surrender is when it starts thinking FOR YOU… and you don’t even notice when you stopped
