Effective destreaming takes 2 steps: 1. Get rid of lower-streamed classes 2. Ramp up inclusive & culturally responsive pedagogy Schools must do BOTH to achieve success. Doing inclusion structurally but not pedagogically will actually make things worse. Don’t be like that.

Instead of talking about how to spend 'privilege,' we need to start having candid discussions about how to redistribute power to correct imbalances. Reflecting on 'privilege' means nothing if we are unwilling to give up some of our power so others will no longer be oppressed and

I have used this quote for a while now. Just updating the image. Alienation is the unchecked precursor of math anxiety. Alienation is the real problem. Not belonging is the problem. Having no identity/connection is the problem. Quietly checking out is the problem.

Streaming as the practice of exclusion, of extraction, confinement & racial segregation in schools: Black children go to school in much the same way other babies do -with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. School (from what they can tell about it) is a place of learning 1/

i have a secret. you don't have to enforce all of the "remote learning rules" your school/district created for students. sometimes #goodtrouble is necessary.

It's funny that @OSSTFD19's going to the membership to fund the positions when they could rearrange lines in the current budget. It's not up to membership to come up with the funding formula. That's leadership's job. #BudgetsRevealPriorities Did they consult @DisruptingABR?
The motion to create the 3 new time-release positions passed without an accompanying motion to fund them. We will be calling a general meeting this month to introduce a motion to fund these positions from our members’ dues.

Funding suggestions, only pay for one VP, don't make Chief Negotiator time release, and maybe, JUST MAYBE don't waste so much money at AMPA. You have money to contribute to the funding of these positions but no one wants to give up ANY of their comfort and power. Sad.

Supt: I'm hoping your team can help us meet our racial equity goals. Where do we start? Me: By mapping out all the ways racism operates in your district. Supt: Well, we're not ready for that conversation. Me: I know you don't realize it, but you've just started the mapping.
